FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) - An employee at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Parish in Fallbrook has been suspended after allegations of sexually inappropriate dating app chats were revealed in a video released by a vigilante group that conducts stings to catch suspected predators. 10News is not revealing the name of the employee because he has not been charged with a crime.A spokesperson for the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego confirmed the employee's suspension, telling 10News the church pastor called the San Diego County Sheriff's Department to report the employee after seeing the video posted on social media Saturday morning.The video was captured Nov. 21 by a group calling itself the "CC Unit" -- "CC" stands for "Creep Catching." The group has posted more than 60 videos over the past year, including one that led to the court martial of a Camp Pendleton Marine.In an interview with 10News, the group's leader, who asked to be identified as "Ghost," said they create profiles on dating sites. When someone reaches out, the CC Unit decoy claims to be a minor. In this particular case, Ghost claimed to be 14. Ghost said the conversation turned sexual, with the employee asking for nude pictures and eventually a meet-up. When he arrived for the meeting at a grocery store, instead of a 14-year-old boy, he was confronted by several men who were recording on their phones. The video stretches for several minutes as the employee tries to evade the CC Unit. "He was denying we had his pictures, we had his chat logs," Ghost said. "I was like 'OK, if you're so afraid, if you don't know what's going on, why don't you call the police because that's what any normal human being would do?'"Ghost admits that law enforcement does not approve of his actions. Criminal defense attorney Guadalupe Valencia told 10News that vigilante groups make the job of law enforcement harder and can jeopardize criminal investigations and prosecutions. "They can cause this person to maybe go free of prosecution because they mishandled the situation. That's a really big danger," said Valencia. Valencia said the CC Unit members could be opening up themselves to criminal charges or civil liability.Despite the criticism, Ghost said he stands by his actions. "They say it makes it harder for them, but I haven't seen them do as much work as I have done over the past year. I think the slaps on the wrist they (sexual predators) get right now is nothing compared to the embarrassment they go through when I expose them," said Ghost. 2532

Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon announced a proposed expansion of 'Social Host Law' to include opioids. The original law was passed in 2014 to curb underage drinking. According to law, it "will serve to deter the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minor by holding those persons who are 21 years old or more responsible when they knowingly allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors at their residences or on their privately owned property."The Erie County Sheriff's Office have been called to 81 instances of youth activity underage drinking since Jan. 1, 2017. The goal of the new expansion of the law is to hold parents and adults accountable for the actions of minors in their home or on their property for the use of underage drinking, illegal use of opioid and substances.Any person who violates the law will be fined. The first offense is punished by a fine of 0. The second offense is punished by 0. The third offense is punished by either a fine of 00 or prison for one year, or both.   1070

Emerging rapper and YouTube star Lil Peep has died at age 21, a representative confirmed to the Guardian. The rapper, whose real name is Gustav ?hr, died due to an apparent overdose, Tucson police Sgt. Pete Dugan told KGUN. The department responded to a call around 9 p.m. local time on Wednesday. Lil Peep grew up in Long Beach, New York. Lil Peep had released mixtapes and had a strong internet following. His debut album "Come Over When You're Sober (Part One)" was released in August. He had a unique style of emo-rap. Lil Peep had an imprint in the fashion world as well. ENCINITAS, Calif. (KGTV) - People who live on Bonita Drive in Encinitas want the city to stop a 10-home development on their street. They say it will make the area more dangerous if a wildfire breaks out."It's a huge concern," says Sione Schad-Siebert. "When the fire starts, and Santa Ana winds blow, they move fast, and you need to get out fast."Plans for the project call for 10 single-family homes to be built on a mostly empty 2.4-acre lot. People who live around it say adding the homes will allow fires to spread faster and cause more congestion on the street if people need to evacuate.Schad-Siebert showed 10News parts of the street where the road narrows to just over the width of a couple of cars. She says fire engines can hardly get through as it is. She also worries that a nearby open-space nature trail could catch fire and decimate the neighborhood."If there's ever a fire in the canyon or if a house here catches on fire, the fire department will not get here in time to stop the fire from spreading through the neighborhood because of poor access," she says.The City Planning Commission approved the project in November, but the residents have filed an appeal.In the appeal, they list fire danger as one of six problems the new homes will bring to the area. Among the other claims are traffic issues, environmental concerns, and questions about ways they say the project skirted city rules during the approval process."I feel like the city's kind of losing its soul," says Schad-Siebert. "I feel it's selling out to developers from out of town that just want to make a lot of money."Housing has been a problem in Encinitas, where city leaders have traditionally shunned large developments. Until 2019, it had been more than two decades since the city successfully submitted a housing and growth plan to the state. The mayor says that has to change.As for the appeal, the Planning Department staff issued a 23-page memo refuting the claims point-by-point. It says the City Council should deny the appeal and move forward with the project.Schad-Siebert says if that happens, she and her neighbors plan to file a lawsuit to stop the construction.The Encinitas City Council will vote on the appeal at Wednesday night's meeting, which begins at 6 pm.
