No new drive test appointments will be available.But one 10News viewer told us that right after the announcement of the reopenings this week, parents rushed to the DMV website. Some were able to book a behind-the-wheel test as early as June 1 for their teens. But minutes later, when she tried to log on for her daughter, who's appointment this month was canceled, it was too late. Gavin Newsom declared an emergency Tuesday over wildfires burning throughout California as the state's power grid operator pleaded for continued conservation to avoid rolling blackouts. The grid operator praised residents and businesses for astonishing conservation efforts that kept the power on Monday night. The state is in a days-long heatwave that has stressed the electrical system and resulted in rolling blackouts over two nights last weekend. Outages, excessive heat, wildfire and the pandemic have people on edge. Evacuations were in effect or growing in several Northern California communities because of growing fires. The ruling is the latest twist in a legal battle that has largely gone Trump's way. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Friday that diverting .5 billion from military construction projects to build the wall illegally sidesteps Congress.
