Two men are in jail after police say they stole a car -– with an infant inside.About 7:30 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the parking lot of a business in Boise, Idaho.“Evidence indicates that a car had been left running outside of a store, when it was stolen by two men,” according to a Boise Police Department news release. A 6-month-old infant was in the car when it was stolen. A parent pursued the car, until the driver stopped several blocks away.“One of the men exited with the child, who was still strapped into the infant car seat.  (The parent) safely took the child from the man. Thankfully, the child was unharmed,” the release stated. The suspect, later identified as Raymundo Gutierrez, 23, of Boise, was detained at the scene until officers arrived.  The other male fled in the stolen vehicle, officers said.Gutierrez was booked into the Ada County Jail and charged with accessory to grand theft, a felony.About 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, Boise Police received information that the stolen vehicle had been recovered in Canyon County -- and the driver, later identified as Robert DeShazo, was booked into the Canyon County Jail. He’s charged with felony possession of stolen property and driving under the influence, a misdemeanor.  Authorities said both suspects could face additional charges.          1396

UPDATE: Tuesday's meeting was canceled due to an illness.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Tuesday night, the City of San Diego's Parks and Recreation Department will present two options for redeveloping the De Anza area to the Mission Bay Park Committee. The meeting is open to the public and begins at 6 p.m. at Mission Bay High School. The two plans were released to the public over the summer. Both feature improvements to sports fields, the Mission Bay Golf Course, green space, walking paths, playgrounds and beaches. Both also have new wildlife habitat areas included, although they vary on how many acres (27 or 38). A more detailed look at the plans can be found here. But wildlife preservations groups like the San Diego Audubon Society and ReWild Mission Bay say they don't go far enough to preserve the habitat or protect wildlife. They're calling for up to 200 acres of land set aside. They say it can also provide a buffer against sea level rises from global warming. They've put forth three other alternative plans that have limited amenities for people, but focus on open habitat space."I don't think being able to use an area for cycling, walking or jogging and conservation of the bay are mutually exclusive," says Linda Conser, who walks along the bay every week. "I think they can exist together.""A lot of my friends use this area," says Chris Garry, who launches his fishing boat from the dock at De Anza Cove. "I'm interested to see what it's going to be like." 1490

Two suspects allegedly dismembered a missing soldier's body and attempted to burn it after she was bludgeoned to death, according to a federal criminal complaint released Thursday.Guillen went missing from Fort Hood on April 22. Human remains were found in connection with her disappearance earlier this week. The two suspects in the case have been identified as Spc. Aaron Robinson and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Cecily Anne Aguillar of Killen, Texas. The Army has confirmed that Robinson died Wednesday morning of a self-inflicted gunshot wound during an interaction with police. Aguillar is currently in custody in the Bell County Jail.According to the affidavit, on April 22, Robinson said he texted Guillen to inform her he was in the arms room at Fort Hood. The message is the last known text message Guillen received to her phone. In the message, Robinson told Guillen to read serial numbers for equipment and afterword he gave her paperwork and the serial number for a .50 caliber machine gun that needed servicing.Robinson said Guillen left the arms room, and he believed she would have gone to the motor pool. Witnesses at the motor pool prepared to receive paperwork from Guillen claimed she did not arrive with the paperwork. The affidavit says witnesses later saw Robinson pulling a large "tough box" with wheels, that appeared to be filled with a heavy object. On June 30, Aguilar told authorities that Robinson told her that he had hit a female soldier in the head with a hammer multiple times in the arms room, killing her, the affidavit says. She claimed Robinson then put Guillen in a box and moved it to a location near the Leon River. On the evening of April 22, Robinson allegedly picked up Aguilar at a gas station she worked and took her to the site near the Leon River where he had left the box.According to the affidavit, Robinson and Aguilar dismembered the female soldier’s body, using a hatchet or ax and a machete-type knife.Police say the suspects also made many attempts to burn the body. This article was written by Sydney Isenberg for KXXV in Waco, Texas. 2091

U.S. government officials are putting an early end to a study testing an Eli Lilly antibody drug for people hospitalized with COVID-19 because it doesn’t seem to be helping them.Independent monitors had paused enrollment in the study two weeks ago because of a possible safety issue. But on Monday, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which sponsors the study, said a closer look did not verify a safety problem but found a low chance that the drug would prove helpful for hospitalized patients. It is a setback for one of the most promising treatment approaches for COVID-19. President Donald Trump received a similar experimental, two-antibody drug from Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Inc. on an emergency basis when he was sickened with the coronavirus earlier this month. In a statement Lilly notes that the government is continuing a separate study testing the antibody drug in mild to moderately ill patients, to try to prevent hospitalization and severe illness. The company also is continuing its own studies testing the drug, which is being developed with the Canadian company AbCellera.Antibodies are proteins the body makes when an infection occurs; they attach to a virus and help it be eliminated. The experimental drugs are concentrated versions of one or two specific antibodies that worked best against the coronavirus in lab and animal tests.Lilly and Regeneron have asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to grant emergency use authorization for their drugs for COVID-19 while late-stage studies continue. Lilly says its request is based on other results suggesting the drug helps patients who are not hospitalized, and that it will continue to seek the FDA’s permission for emergency use.___The Associated Press Health and Science Department receives support from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Department of Science Education.
