SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A teenager was shot Tuesday in San Diego’s Jamacha-Lomita neighborhood, San Diego Police say.Police were called to the 7600 block of Viewcrest Drive around 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.When they arrived, officers found a male in his late teens suffering from a gunshot wound.The teen was taken to the hospital with wounds that “appear to be non-life threatening,” police say. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego Police Sergeant was arrested Friday after the department was tipped off to individuals reportedly soliciting sex from minors.Police say Joseph Ruvido, 49, was arrested in Carmel Valley and charged with one felony count of soliciting sex with a minor. A search warrant was served at the 21-year veteran's residence and he was taken into custody without incident.Ruvido was assigned to the SDPD Watch Commander's Office, approving reports and and bookings. Prior to that, Ruvido was a patrol sergeant with the department's Eastern division, according to SDPD Chief David Nisleit."I assure you Sgt. Ruvido will be held accountable both criminally and administratively," Nisleit said. Police identified one of the individuals as Ruvido and opened an investigation leading to his arrest.Once Ruvido was identified, investigators conducted 24/7 surveillance with investigators from the San Diego District Attorney's Office, according to SDPD Lt. Jud Campbell.SDPD declined to share any further details to protect the investigation, Nisleit said."We're going to be looking at everything," Nisleit said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- All 289 playgrounds in the city of San Diego will reopen to the public on Saturday, Mayor Kevin Faulconer said Friday.Earlier this week, California health officials issued guidelines that allowed for the safe reopening of outdoor playgrounds in parks, campgrounds and other publicly accessible locations.The county reopened 100 of its playgrounds on Wednesday; the city of Carlsbad reopened its parks on Friday.In a statement, Faulconer said, “We already encourage families and children to recreate outdoors at beaches and parks while taking safety precautions, so there’s no reason why we can’t reopen playgrounds the same safe and responsible way. Along with other local leaders, we urged the Governor to deliver the proper guidance to make this a reality for our parents and children, and now that we can reopen we’ll do it responsibly with safety front and center.”Under the state’s guidelines, playground visitors must abide by these requirements:1. Face masks over the mouth and nose are required for everyone 2 years of age or older with caregiver supervision at all times to ensure face mask use.2. Do not use the playground when different households are unable to maintain a physical distance of 6 feet or when the capacity limit has been reached.3. Caregivers must monitor to keep adults and children from different households at least 6 feet apart.4. Consider coming on different times or days to avoid wait times and potential crowded times.5. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An old airport terminal turned innovation lab hopes to ultimately improve the customer experience at San Diego International Airport (SAN).The second group of innovators has begun the 16-week accelerator program to "field test" and develop their concepts in a real-world airport environment.The Innovation Lab was launched to reduce barriers for innovators to break into the aviation industry. Its goals are to develop concepts that can enhance the passenger experience, improve operational efficiency, increase revenues and/or decrease costs. The 3,500-square-foot space offers a functional mini-terminal area with ticket counters and a bag claim carousel, all without passenger or security concerns to work around."We wanted to provide a location where we could invite innovators in to test their solutions," said Rebecca Bloomfield, spokesperson for SAN. Jon Wisner, Director of Business Development & Partnerships at HOHM Inc., says they've already gotten good feedback on a sleeping pod they hope to bring to airports. "What we are trying to validate is the best usage for the pod - whether it be used for a nap, lactation room, or privacy just in general, meditation, prayer," said Wisner. The pods are currently being tested by airport staff.
