She walks up and down the aisles of the walk-in refrigerator, her eyes scanning the massive wheels of cheese that have been sitting here for years aging to the point of perfecting. Then, Pam Robinson pulls out the block of Swiss cheese she’s been looking for.The temperature inside this cheese cave never changes; it’s a constant 55 degrees to ensure the dozens of wheels of cheese sitting on the wooden shelves here can age slowly over time. It’s an art Pam Robinson and her husband, Raymond, have been perfecting for the last decade.“When you’re making cheese, you smell the sugar from the cheese as it’s being stirred. It’s mesmerizing, almost calming in a way,” she said as she places a block of cheese on a scale to weigh.Pam and Ray Robinson are fourth-generation farmers. Ray Robinson’s great-grandparents started Robinson Farm more than a century ago. The centerpiece for this farm in Hardswick, Massachusetts, is an iconic red barn that sits in the center of the property. It’s surrounded by woods and open fields where about two dozen cows spend their days grazing on grass. For the last 10 years, the Robinsons made most of their money, selling cheese to high-end restaurants in the Boston area. But once COVID-19 hit, that stream of revenue disappeared overnight.“Our distributor has not ordered a wheel of cheese since March, and it’s now September,” Pam Robinson explained.Like farmers across the country who sell their products directly to restaurants, the Robinsons found themselves having to suddenly pivot their entire business model. Almost as soon as restaurants closed in March, Pam Robinson noticed an incredible increase in the number of individual online orders they were receiving.Demand for delivery of the gourmet cheese this farm produces has skyrocketed in recent months. Online sales have doubled as the Robinsons have seen more Americans looking to get their food directly from local farms because of COVID-19. Many customers are also still unable to leave their homes because of health concerns.“People aren’t going out. They want things delivered to their door,” Pam Robinson added.Finding farms that deliver like the Robinsons though can sometimes be difficult, which is why a new website has gained popularity during the pandemic.David Pham and Jason Curescu are two guys in their 30s who live in New York City and started the website Farmsthataredelivering.com. They've spent months creating a free online database where people can search for farms in their area that deliver.“By going back to our food source, that’s how we can really know what’s in our food,” Pham said. The idea has taken off. Not just with Americans ordering food, but with the farmers themselves.“A lot of the farmers we talk to this is the part of the job they don’t like,” he added. It's the kind of boost farms could use now more than ever. In a recent survey, 73 percent of farmers said COVID-19 affected their operations in some way. Thirty-four percent of dairy farmers said the pandemic is forcing them to speed up plans to leave farming altogether, which includes the Robinsons, who have decided it's time to sell the family farm.“It’s hard to let it go, but it’s time,” said Pam Robinson, while looking at the land she’s lived on most of her life. But for now, they still have plenty of cheese that's ready to be packaged and shipped. And if the pandemic has taught them anything, it’s how grateful people are that they can get food directly from the farm. 3477

SOLANA BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - The FBI joined the case of a part-time San Diego resident and tourist found murdered on vacation in the Caribbean in October.Rick Kuhnla says his family was told Monday morning that the FBI entered into an agreement for a joint investigation into the murder of his mother Marie Kuhnla, 62.Nearly two months later, the grief is still raw."At work, I will be going through the day sometimes and it will hit me: I'm not going to see my mom again. It's almost like a panic. It's horrible," said Rick Kuhnla. In mid-October, Marie Kuhnla set off on a girls trip to a Club Med resort in Turks and Caicos with two friends and fellow public defenders in New York. A few days into their trip, Marie went to her room to take a nap and wasn't heard from again. Her body was discovered in bushes on the edge of the resort days later. Royal Turks and Caicos Island Police told her family she was strangled, but Kuhnla says they've relayed to them little else."We haven't been given an autopsy report ... that was completed two weeks after her body was discovered. We don't know the time of death," said Kuhnla. Also upsetting for Kuhnla: it took 34 days to ship her body back, despite initial promises it would only be a few days."Because of how it was embalmed, it decayed a lot," said Kuhnla. That prevented family from have their own autopsy conducted and even viewing her body."It was heartbreaking and feeling disrespected ... makes me feel distrusting of the investigation," said Kuhnla.Kuhnla said his family has had concerns from the beginning. He says on the first night his mother's friends noticed her missing, police declined to search because it was dark out. According to Kuhnla, his family is now more hopeful with the FBI joining the probe. "I feel good about the FBI's involvement. I just want answers. She spent her life fighting for justice for those who couldn't afford it themselves. She deserves every effort to be made to get justice for her," said Kuhnla. In a statement, a Royal Turks and Caicos Island Police spokesperson says the family has been given "updates regarding all relevant information" but declined to comment further. 10News also reached out to the FBI but haven't heard back. 2236

Sony’s PlayStation 5 was released to the public on Thursday, but good luck finding one… at least at retail value. The PlayStation 5 marked Sony’s newest generation console since the PlayStation 4 was released at the end of 2013. The PlayStation 5’s release coincides with Microsoft’s release this week of the XBOX Series X.A number of Twitter users expressed frustration with the purchase process as a number of stores sold out of their stock. Stores liked Walmart said they’ll continue to update their quantities. Some are using the initial scarcity of the console for profit. The disc version of the Playstation 5 sells for 9, but the bidding has gone for more than twice that price on Ebay. The PlayStation 5 offers a complete redesign to PlayStation’s classic controller. It also delivers graphics that are akin to powerful, more expensive gaming computers. But some experts say if you’re unable to initially score a PS5 to not fret. The initial offering of games is slim, but with time, the number of games available for the PS5 platform will grow. 1060

Seven members of President Trump’s Cabinet told Scripps News they do not fly on private jets paid for by taxpayers.Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price drew attention for taking five private jet flights on official business last week instead of flying commercially. His staff said using a private plane allowed him to maximize his time on the ground managing hurricane preparation and recovery efforts.“Commercial travel is not always feasible,” Price spokeswoman Charmaine Yoest said.We asked other members of the president’s Cabinet if they travel for official business on private jets, instead of taking a commercial flight or government plane. The responses show a different approach to private jet use, varying by agency.Cabinet secretaries who have not flown taxpayer-funded private jets include HUD Secretary Ben Carson, Veterans Affairs Secretary David Shulkin and Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue, according to their spokespeople.Perdue has flown to disaster sites on military aircraft and to remote areas on forest service aircraft, his office said. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao “insists on flying commercial and does so whenever possible,” a department spokeswoman said. In some cases she will use a government plane if security is a concern or if commercial options are not available.Education Secretary Betsy DeVos pays for all of her travel out of pocket, her spokeswoman said, except for one 3 round-trip Amtrak ticket from Washington to Philadelphia paid for by the government. In July, Forbes reported DeVos is worth billion.Linda McMahon, head of the Small Business Administration, flies on both commercial and private flights, SBA spokesman Terry Sutherland said. On the “rare occasion” McMahon travels on a private flight, she has covered the difference in cost out-of-pocket between private and commercial flights, Sutherland said. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross usually flies commercial flights but he and his staff will sometimes take a private plane in Ross’ own personal “jet share” program. In those cases, Ross covers the entire cost himself, a Commerce spokesman said.Other Cabinet agencies did not immediately respond to inquiries about whether their secretaries fly private jets as part of their duties. 2266
