Conagra Brands Inc. is recalling 2,871 pounds of chicken and rice products due to misbranding and undeclared allergens. The recalled 7.5-oz microwavable bowls of Chef Boyardee labeled as rice with chicken and vegetables actually contains beef ravioli products, according to the recall. The product was packaged on Jan. 16, 2019. The products have the package code 210090151050045L and a "Best By" date of "Jul082020" on the bottom of the bowl. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. DETROIT — Family Video is one of the last surviving video stores in the country. And they're trying a new tactic to bring people into the store: selling CBD products. “It’s been crazy,” said Erin Gardner, the store manager of the Family Video in Waterford Township, Michigan.Gardner says the owner of Family Video, Keith Hoogland, tried CBD balm to help with his tennis elbow. It worked so well for him, he wanted to share the benefits of CBD products with Family Video customers. Right now, there are around 76 stores in Michigan selling CBD products, and it’s expected to launch at all 100 stores in Michigan by the end of this week.CBD, or cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive ingredient of cannabis plants and can be extracted from the two strains of cannabis, both hemp and marijuana. CBD oil has been found in lotions, creams and food. And although the only CBD products officially approved by the US Food and Drug Administration is a prescription oil called Epidiolex, proponents say it can have many health benefits for humans and pets.Family Video’s products are THC-free.“Some other CBD products have traces of THC in it, and then you’ll fail drug tests. Experts say when it comes to drug treatment and recovery, there really isn’t one right answer. But a group in Dayton, Ohio, believes some of the best help can come from those who’ve been through the fight already.“I was there, I was desperate,” said Waldo Littlejohn.“I lost a nephew and a sister to this epidemic,” said Kevin Kerley.” So it’s personal to me.”"I ended up DOA for 23 minutes,” Erica Gross said. The Dayton Fellowship Club, for many, is a house of hope.They help people dealing with substance abuse disorders. The only thing they need to have to walk through the door is a desire to stop using. “In the last four-to have five years it’s really gotten worse,” Kerley said of the opioid epidemic in Dayton.Gross attributes the issue, at least in part, to doctors.“I think a lot of it does have to do with the doctor, doctors prescribe it,” Gross said. “I know for me, that’s something I’ve just now realized is that’s what kind of kicked off a lot of things for me.”Littlejohn adds there are other factors as well.“It can be attributed to lack of jobs, it can be attributed to poverty, there’s a lot of things that can contribute to that,” he said.Kerley said it’s taken over the community he’s known his whole life.“It’s taken over our community,” he said. “I was born and raised in this area and I’ve seen the devastation that it’s done. The kids and the housing and the deaths the plight of the neighborhood, it’s just destroying our home.” Littlejohn has been in recover for 21 years.Having been through the fight himself, he says the country is facing a gigantic challenge in the face of the opioid crisis.“The people coming through this door now are getting younger and younger, but they are still coming, they are still looking for help,” Kerley said. “That means there’s still hope in this community.”Littlejohn agrees.“I’m very hopeful,” he said. “I’m very enthused about it. Our motto is, ‘hope is found here.’ ” “Now people are starting to recognize it,” Kerley said. “It’s sad that it took all of the deaths and it took us becoming No. 1in the state of Ohio for opioid overdoses for people to recognize that the need for help is here.” 2172
