(KGTV) -- Summer is nearly here, and the County is preparing for pests. On Wednesday, the first rounds of larvicide will be dropped on 48 rivers, streams ponds and waterways. In previous years, crews sprayed neighborhoods by hand to fight mosquito-borne illnesses like Zika and West Nile viruses. This year, the County will use a helicopter to drop the batches or solid, granular larvicide on the waterways that cannot be treated by hand.The drops will take place about once each month of mosquito season (April to October). Mosquito larvae that ingest the larvicide will be killed, but the larvicide is not harmful to people or pets. The list of waterways equals just over 1,000 acres from Chula Vista to Fallbrook and from Oceanside to Lakeside, according to the County News Center. Protect yourself from mosquitos 864

A billboard located near a busy highway in Kentucky was vandalized with an anti-gun message on Monday.Commuters on I-65 in Louisville noticed the billboard read "KILL THE NRA" on Monday morning. (KGTV) - Wait times at Southern California Department of Motor Vehicles offices have some drivers traveling hundreds of miles to avoid long lines.The DMV in the high desert town of Needles has some of the shortest lines in the state, KABC reported. When a news crew arrived at 10:30 a.m. Monday, there were only two people waiting in line."It's really nice. Not like back at home in L.A. The modified license will be required for travel in some states and access to secure federal facilities after October 1, 2020.A spokesperson for the DMV said the agency is monitoring wait times at all 172 field offices across the state."Generally speaking, the busiest offices tend to be the ones located in major metropolitan areas," spokesperson Jaime Garza said to KABC. A 29-year-old man arrested after he crashed a car into security barriers outside the UK Houses of Parliament in what's being treated as a terrorist incident was identified by police Wednesday as a UK national originally from Sudan.The man has not yet been named by London's Metropolitan Police but the force said in a statement that it was "satisfied" it now knew his identity.Three people were injured when the suspect's car careened into cyclists and pedestrians during the Tuesday morning rush hour outside one of London's most iconic locations.
