Despite the president calling for a boycott of Goodyear tires, his campaign’s NASCAR vehicle must race with the tire this summer. The reason? NASCAR has an official partnership with Goodyear, as Goodyear is the “Official Tire of NASCAR.”Go Fas Racing general manager Mason St. Hilaire told Fox Business that the choice is either drive with Goodyear tires, or no tires at all.“We just have one way to run them,” St. Hilaire told FOX Business. “It’s either those tires or no tires. We don’t have much of a choice. There should be two. I don’t know if you should just have one. You’ve got to keep something for the competition, right? Putting another one in would probably be a little bit of fun, both for cost and competition.”The Trump 2020 car has been driven by Corey LaJoie this summer. The relationship with Go Fas Racing and the car’s sponsor, Patriots of America, is for nine races this season.Trump called for the boycott on Wednesday after reports accused Goodyear of banning hats with Trump’s campaign slogan from being worn by employees. Goodyear responded saying images purporting to be from Goodyear did not come from Goodyear’s corporate office. But the company did acknowledge, however, that employees are discouraged from supporting political campaigns while working.“The visual in question was not created or distributed by Goodyear corporate, nor was it part of a diversity training class,” Goodyear said in a statement. “To be clear on our longstanding corporate policy, Goodyear has zero tolerance for any forms of harassment or discrimination. To enable a work environment free of those, we ask that associates refrain from workplace expressions in support of political campaigning for any candidate or political party, as well as similar forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of racial justice and equity issues.” 1848

DENVER, Colorado — When the Boy Scouts announced it was going to start accepting girls, it got a lot of people talking. Now, girls are starting to join the dens. The Now, a television show of the E.W. Scripps Company, talked with one of the first to sign up about why she's doing it, and her message to other girls. When it comes to a boy scout meeting, you'd expect it to start with the Pledge of Allegiance. But what you might not expect is to see girls reciting the pledge, with the boys.A meeting just outside Denver, Colorado is one of the first meetings since girls have been welcomed to join Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.Girls across the country can join Cub Scouts in August. But 8-year-old Caroline Graham is one of the first as a part of their early adopter program. And for her, it's not just about getting to participate in scout traditions. But getting to do more of what she loves; camping."You get to be outdoors," Graham said. "And you get to make way more friends."Until now, her dad would bring her along on some trips with her brothers, but as a girl scout, she often had to stay behind."I really wanted to go cause my brothers got to go," Graham said. "And now I actually can.""Every time we'd pull out of the driveway on her way to a camping trip her last though was, can I go?" Caroline's dad and den leader Andrew Graham said. "And we'd say not this time. But now that's gone."Andrew Graham says he's glad his daughter will be able to have the same opportunities as his sons."We're not trying to turn them into boys by no stretch of the imagination," said Andrew Graham. "We want them to just turn into the same leaders we're developing our boys to turn into. And this give us that opportunity."Caroline Graham's brother Oliver says it's about time."It's 2018 and you shouldn't be so sexist," Oliver Graham said.Charlie Graham just glad they can all do things together."I feel like as a family now we can just sort of all progress up together sort of compete against each other for ranks and stuff," Charlie Graham said. "Whereas just before it was just all the boys."But Elliot Graham's feelings are a bit different."I'm scared," Elliot Graham said. "I'm scared they're going to beat us."Yes, the boys will face some new competition in popcorn sales and in the pinewood derby. But from the looks of the meeting, none of that seems to matter. And what Caroline Graham hopes can come from this?"Other girls will decide they want to start this," Caroline Graham said. "And might actually come."Adding a new verse to an old song. And new voices to an evolving American institution. 2608

DENVER – Denver will got the chance to meet its newest primate resident this week.Cerah, a Sumatran orangutan born at the Denver Zoo last month, will made her public debut on Friday. .Cerah was born on March 25 to mom Nias and dad Berani. Staff at the zoo said Cerah was recently introduced to Berani and her half-sister, Hesty. While Hesty has been affectionate and eager to be around Cerah, Berani has been gentle but reserved and mostly kept his distance, which staff say is normal for male orangutans.Sumatran orangutans are considered critically endangered with an estimated worldwide population of just 14,600. 628

DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) - Several homes have been burglarized during the past week in the hills of Olde Del Mar.Neighbors believe they're targeted because they're very freeway accessible; burglars can make a quick getaway.Michelle Angles was a victim."We're so close to the freeway that criminals are coming here because it's an easy pop onto the freeway right after they burglarize. We've had our car broken into; thousands of dollars of things taken."Monday afternoon, just minutes before two homes around the corner and a few blocks away were burglarized, her home surveillance video caught three shady characters ambling down the street."The video shows three young men walking along the sidewalk and they stop right here and you see them looking around and talking very softly.  They noticed the camera and immediately started walking away and one of the young men.. you can see him stop and walk up the grass and he looked into a window next door.  So they were casing houses in the neighborhood," Angles said.At the break-in five blocks away, thieves ransacked the house; stealing jewelry, electronics, cameras and photographic gear.  They also left behind an autographed Steven Tyler guitar with the authentication paperwork right next to it.  They also left many fingerprints on furniture they moved around.  The homeowner said they fed the dog, too; and though she appreciates that the dog wasn't hurt, she's hopeful the fingerprints will lead to arrests. 1517

DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) — A Descanso man has finished carving a Buddha statue into a granite boulder in his backyard. “Buddha is in every tree just looking at you like every rock,” said artist Duncan McFetridge. “It’s connected to our saving our environment — all life is sacred.” Duncan McFetridge says it took six months to carve the 6-foot tall Buddha into the granite. “It occurred to me that this was a perfect time and place to carve a representation of Buddha,” added McFetridge, who was heavily involved in the preservation of the Cleveland National Forest. He estimates he chipped away more than 750 pounds using a combination of hand tools and power tools on the stone carving while working in 4-hour increments every day. “These are incredibly difficult,” said McFetridge pointing to cinnamon roll-sized circles adorning the carving's head, “each one takes about a day.” The 78-year-old says someone recently visited and figured out the Buddha carving faces due east, sticking with an ancient tradition of Buddha statues facing east to represent the moment of the enlightenment. “I didn’t know, I was totally unconscious of this,” said McFetridge, who adds he just picked the rock face because of its accessibility.McFetridge says hundreds have already inquired about visiting the statue to which he says he encourages it. “The Buddha wants to be known,” said McFetridge. 1390
