She claims the village is trying to "skirt the law" by declaring her property as a blighted area on the development site."This area doesn't qualify for the new definition of blight that the Wisconsin Legislature put in Chapter 32 that says the properties are dilapidated or deteriorated, or run down, or are a safety or health risk," said Mahoney."I don't think its fair to characterize it that we are skirting any laws," said DeGroot. "We are being very upfront, very forthright, very transparent with how we are going about this process. Much like fired FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe wrote memos documenting his conversations with President Donald Trump, a source with knowledge of the matter told CNN.A person familiar with the matter told CNN McCabe's memos are now in the hands of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.The memos also detail what Comey told McCabe about his own interactions with Trump while he was FBI director and are seen as a way to corroborate Comey's account in Mueller's probe.Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe on Friday, about a day before his 50th birthday and the date he was set to retire and begin receiving his anticipated pension, over accusations that McCabe directed FBI officials to speak to the media about an investigation tied to the Clinton Foundation and misled investigators about his actions. Following his firing Friday, McCabe told CNN in an interview that he had four interactions with the President last May, while he was acting FBI director.McCabe revealed that he had three in-person interactions and one phone call with Trump, in which the President berated him each time about his wife's failed Virginia Senate campaign.It is unclear exactly what is in McCabe's memos and if he memorialized every interaction he had with the President."In May, when Director Comey was fired and I had my own interactions with the President, he brought up my wife every time I ever spoke to him," McCabe told CNN. (KGTV) - Elementary school teachers in National City voted Monday to approve a strike. The teachers are frustrated with the way contract negotiations with the National School District for the 2017-2018 school year have gone.They say the biggest issues of contention are workload and teachers pay. "The District's behavior has been reprehensible from the very beginning of negotiations. The NSD's bargaining team has not tried to reach a settlement with the teachers for months,” said National City Elementary Teachers Association (NCETA) Bargaining Chair Irma Sanchez.A spokesperson for the National School District told 10News they are in mediation and cannot comment at this time.The NCETA will announce the decision at the NSD Governing Board meeting Wednesday.Although the teachers approved the strike, they say it could be months before anything happens.   926

More children have been diagnosed with acute flaccid myelitis, the polio-like paralyzing illness, according to numbers released Monday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.There have now been 106 confirmed cases of AFM in 29 states this year, according to the CDC, an increase of 16 since last week.There are also 167 possible cases of the illness, an increase of five from the previous week.Since 2014, there have been 430 confirmed cases of the rare disease, and 90% have been children, according to the CDC.AFM is a rare illness that affects the nervous system, especially the gray matter in the spinal cord, and causes muscle weakness and sudden onset of paralysis. There's a spectrum of how children can be affected: Some regain the use of their paralyzed limbs, while others are paralyzed from the neck down and can breathe only with the help of a ventilator.There is no cure and no vaccine.There is also no known cause. Although several neurologists who serve as advisers to the CDC say they feel sure that an enterovirus -- the same family of viruses that cause polio -- is most likely to blame, the CDC says it's still casting a net wide.The CDC's Dr. Nancy Messonnier said last week that the agency is considering the possibility that an infectious pathogen is causing AFM but added that "we're broadening our hypotheses."When asked whether a toxin or vaccines could be triggering AFM, Messonnier, director of the National Center for Immuniziation and Respiratory Diseases, replied that "we're not ruling anything out at this point."About three to 10 days before becoming paralyzed, nearly all children who developed AFM experienced a viral illness with symptoms such as fever and cough, the CDC reported last week.Viral illnesses are very common among children, and so it's not clear why only a relatively small number develop AFM.
