For students at Jackson Memorial Middle School in Ohio, Tuesday wasn't a normal day. When a seventh-grade student pulled out a gun and shot himself, students began to panic.  Airyonna Haggerty, who is a sixth grader at the school, described the moment teachers told her to get inside the classroom.The 12-year-old heard teachers screaming to get inside the classroom and the next thing she knew, she was hiding and crouching down with her fellow peers near the teacher's desk."I dropped everything. Matt Bevin has opposed Kentucky teachers' rallies for pension protection and public education funding since they began, but never quite the way he did on Friday afternoon, when he told a gaggle of reporters that the strike would directly cause children to be injured, poisoned and sexually assaulted. "I guarantee you somewhere in Kentucky today a child was sexually assaulted that was left at home because there was nobody there to watch them," he said. FORT MYERS, Fla. - The headmaster of Evangelical Christian School sent an email saying a teacher was fired after admitting sexual misconduct with a student. The email said a female upper school teacher has had her position terminated, effective immediately. Deputies arrested 35-year-old Suzanne Owens, charging her with custodial sexual battery, the Lee County Sheriff's Office said. FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State Senator Chris McDaniel is pre-filing a bill that would replace a statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in the state Capitol Rotunda with a statue of Carl Brashear, a Kentucky African American Navy sailor and master diver who died in 2006.In 1970, Brashear became the first African-American master diver in the history of the U.S. Navy, despite having his left leg amputated in 1966. The film "Men of Honor" was based on Brashear's life.McDaniel says he'll call for 0,000 to erect a statue of Brashear.
