More than 228,000 pounds of Hormel Spam and other canned meat products are being recalled because they might contain shards of metal, according to the US Department of Agriculture.The department's Food Safety Inspection Service said Saturday that the problem was discovered after four customers complained of metal objects in canned Hormel products. The FSIS did not say how the pieces of metal might have gotten into the products.Throughout the US, 12-ounce metal cans labeled "SPAM Classic" with the designation "EST. 199N" should not be eaten because of a risk of minor oral injuries, FSIS said. The recalled cans are marked "Best By" February 2021 and carry the production codes F02098 and F02108.The products should be immediately thrown away or returned to the place of purchase, FSIS said. In a statement, Hormel said it was recalling the products "out of an abundance of caution," and that "the health and safety of consumers is our top concern."In 2016, Hormel voluntarily recalled 40 cases of Dinty Moore Beef Stew -- also because of possible contamination by "extraneous materials."The US-based Hormel Foods Corporation sells products in more than 70 countries. 1504

NASA has lost priceless relics of space history, largely because of poor record keeping and follow-through, the agency's watchdog concluded.The inspector general recently found "NASA does not have adequate processes in place to identify or manage its heritage assets."That has led NASA to lose track of items that flew in space, such as "an Apollo 11 lunar collection bag that contained lunar dust particles," and other historically significant items, like a prototype lunar rover that was sold to a scrap yard.NASA told the inspector general's office in a memo that it would develop better processes for dealing with historical items by the spring of May 2020. The agency did not immediately respond to CNN for comment.The rover turned up "in a residential neighborhood in Alabama" and was spotted by an Air Force historian. When contacted by the government, the owner "expressed interest in returning the vehicle to NASA."But the agency lost track of the vehicle because it did not follow through."After waiting more than 4 months for a decision from the Agency, the individual sold the rover to a scrap metal company," the inspector general found. "NASA officials subsequently offered to buy the rover, but the scrap yard owner refused and, realizing its historical value, sold the vehicle at auction for an undisclosed sum."In another instance, NASA lost track of a bag containing moon material, which was eventually sold for .8 million.The "Apollo 11 lunar collection bag" was "seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation from the home of a former chief executive officer for the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center during a criminal investigation," the IG found, then sold at a Marshals Service auction. NASA learned of the bag in 2015 when the purchaser asked the agency to verify its authenticity, but a judge turned down NASA's request to take possession of the bag, and the unnamed individual auctioned it off.As the Space Shuttle program wound down, NASA improved its processes for keeping track of historical artifacts, the report said. MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — Milwaukee County voters will be asked about legalizing marijuana this November after the County Board of Supervisors approved a referendum question on a 15-1 vote Thursday morning.The non-binding, advisory referendum on the November ballot would ask voters how they feel about approving the sale, usage and taxation of recreational marijuana.The official question, proposed by County Supervisor John F. MURRIETA, Calif. (KGTV) -- One second she was getting the all-clear to go into the home, and the next the walls crumbled around her. A mother trapped inside when a Murrieta home when it exploded says there’s only one reason she made it out alive. "I just saw everything crashing down around me, and I thought I was dead, I thought that was it,” said Alexis Haaland, who was inside home when it blew up. Looking at the house Tuesday, Haaland says she’s still in shock she walked away from the explosion with only a few scratches. "I just stood still and I covered my head and I was screaming oh my god, just hoping nothing hit me."Haaland was having solar panels installed at the home she lived in with her family for about a month. She says the solar company told her they hit a gas line and that she should probably leave. She took her two kids and put them outside with her mother and little brother in their van. Haaland says a firefighter told her she could go back in and get her wallet and diaper bag. That’s when the home exploded. "I just knew I had to get out, and I ran to my mom and my kids and my mom just looked at me and was like how did you get out of there."Haaland says she got out through a window that was shattered in the blast. She says she was standing by a wall, the only one left standing after the home exploded. "I'm really shook up still, having a couple panic attacks and stuff, but I'm alive, and that's all that really matters."Haaland says she’s thankful that her kids were outside the home. She says the moments after the explosion were tough, adding that her thoughts are with the man killed in the explosion and those who were injured. "There wasn't much sleep last night. Pretty much any loud noise woke me up."The family says the community has stepped up and offered to help them after they lost everything in the blast. 1865
