BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao called on domestic companies to pump up confidence in coping with the global financial crisis during his inspection of enterprises in eastern Shanghai and Zhejiang Province from Friday to Sunday.     Wen said buoying up their confidence was "a powerful weapon to deal with the adverse effects of the global economic turbulence and financial turmoil" when inspecting local private enterprises and large-scale companies.     "Enterprises must have confidence for them to stabilize market expectations. Confidence is what they need to tide over the difficult times," he said.     Wen, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, pointed out the private sector played an important role in keeping the stable and relatively fast economic growth momentum, creating more jobs and maintaining the social stability. BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao sent a congratulatory message to a UN meeting in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People to be held Tuesday at the UN headquarters in New York.     Wen extended warm congratulations to the opening of the meeting in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on behalf of the Chinese government.     The Palestinian issue is the core of the Mideast problem. China staunchly supports the restoration of the legal rights of the Palestinian people as well as the Mideast peace process, the message said.     China hopes that Palestine and Israel would stick to the path of peaceful negotiations on the basis of related UN resolutions and the "Land for Peace" principle to establish an independent Palestinian state at an early date, so as to realize peaceful coexistence between the Israeli and Palestinian states, it said.     To resolve the Palestinian issue at an early date is the aspiration of the people in the Mideast as well as the common expectation of the international community, it said.     As a permanent member of the UN Security Council, China will continue to support the United Nations in playing an important role in solving the Mideast problem and pushing forward the settlement of the Palestinian issue, said the message.     The Chinese government will also work with the international community to make unremitting contributions to peace, stability and development in the Mideast, it added.

BEIJING, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- President Hu Jintao, who is also the Chairman of the Central Military Commission, wants Chinese soldiers to adopt core military values.     The traditions include loyalty to country and its people, devotion to their career and upholding military glory.      Hu made the remarks in a recent meeting with senior military leaders in Beijing.     Those values should serve as a strong spiritual force for the soldiers to achieve all-round development and should guide them when implementing their missions, he said.     Hu added, soldiers should serve the people wholeheartedly and put people's interests above everything.

ASTANA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said here Thursday that China will maintain contact with Iran and conduct mutually beneficial cooperation with the country.     The Chinese premier made the remark at a meeting with Parviz Davoodi, first vice president of Iran, on the sidelines of the 7thprime ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan.     Iran is an observer of the SCO. HEFEI, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Vice Premier Hui Liangyu said on Saturday that local government should seek every means to help migrant workers land jobs, calling it "a prominent and important task" in the current rural work agenda.     Hui made the remarks when he toured east China's Anhui Province. He urged local enterprises to guarantee job opportunities for migrant workers and asked infrastructure projects contractors to hire as many migrant workers as possible.     The vocational training for the migrant workers should be strengthened, Hui said.     Migrant workers were also encouraged to go back to their hometown to start their own business, and support should be given in bank loans, tax breaks and business registration, according to Hui.     Hui also urged local government to attach great importance to the fight against drought, which plagued more than 866,700 hectares of wheat in the province. He said rural water control facility construction should be speeded up.     He also asked local authorities to enhance the control of bird flu and foot-and-mouth disease.
