(AP) — An Amtrak train headed to Los Angeles from Seattle has been stuck on the tracks near Eugene, Oregon since Sunday after hitting a tree that fell onto the tracks.The Oregonian/OregonLive reports the Amtrak Coast Starlight train left Seattle Sunday morning and stopped in Oakridge, Oregon around 6:20 p.m., according to Amtrak spokeswoman Olivia Irvin.She says heavy snow and debris on the tracks have kept the 183 passengers stuck in the area and it's not yet clear when they will be able to leave.Oakridge is about 45 miles (72 kilometers) southeast of Eugene.Irvin said road closures in the area due to heavy snow and downed trees are making it difficult to provide alternative transportation.She said there is currently enough food on board for passengers.Union Pacific is helping Amtrak try to clear a path for the train. 853

PRESCOTT, Ariz. — Human body parts that authorities say may have been intended for medical research were found over the weekend in northern Arizona.According to a statement released Sunday by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified about the remains near Prescott on Saturday and an examination confirmed they were human.A second site with additional body parts was discovered Sunday.The sheriff’s office says it is treating the investigation as a homicide, but the Yavapai County medical examiner says it appears the remains from both sites are from a medical institution and were intended for use in the educational and research field.The sheriff’s office described abandoning remains as a serious crime and said it intends to find “those culpable for such disrespect shown in the cavalier way the remains were discarded.”Sheriff Scott Mascher and Sheriff-Elect David Rhodes issued statements, saying they’ll work together to assure that whatever resources necessary are available to determine those responsible are found and prosecuted.“It is not much that could surprise me anymore, but this news makes me sick, especially for the families of those whose remains were found. (KGTV) - A couple was on their way to the hospital to give birth, but their baby decided to make his grand entrance before they could get there.Bill Sudzuk's wife, Holly Hill, was not expected to give birth to their third child until next week. But early Thursday morning, she began having contractions.As they drove to the hospital at around 2:30 a.m., Sudzuk realized that the baby was not going to wait as they were still a few minutes away from the delivery room."Baby wanted to come out, nothing we could do about it," Sudzuk said.Because of the contractions, the couple pulled over in the parking lot of a Chevron gas station on Scripps Poway Parkway and Pomerado Road, and Sudzuk called 911 for assistance.While on the phone, paramedics guided Sudzuk through the process of helping deliver the baby. Seconds later, Sudzuk caught Simon with his free hand. "Three minutes later, we have a little one!" Hill said.Next thing he knew, Sudzuk was handling the umbilical cord with a bungee."I went and found a string, and I ended up cutting a bungee off my backpack and cutting and tying it off," Sudzuk said.
