The restaurant closed its dining room with the rest of the city in mid-March.It seats about three dozen people in the St. George section of Staten Island. Since opening in 2007, it has featured a rotating special menu prepared by the women along with an Italian menu.It’s known as the Nonna Project, which is Italian for “grandma.”To create a revenue stream and protect the health of the grandmothers and staff, they have not reopened.The women head to the kitchen one at a time to make batches of sauce to sell on the restaurant website.Rosa Correa will share her recipe for her delicious sauce from Peru. NEBRASKA — Omaha Police Department detectives have located the Dodge County vehicle taken by an escaped inmate on Wednesday, but the suspect is still at large.About 7 p.m. Wednesday, authorities received a tip the dark grey 2012 Chevy Impala with government plate No. 42650 had been spotted in a Nebraska Furniture Mart parking lot. OPD said handcuffs were found in the car.An NFM spokesperson said the store had turned over security footage to authorities.Authorities are still looking for an inmate, Eric G. Scott, 37, who they may still be armed and dangerous. The alleged abuse happened between September 2013 and April 2016 with a victim who was 11 years old when the abuse started, records state. The victim said Scott twice had intercourse with her and had subjected her to other sex acts numerous times in the family home in Hooper, records state.Around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Scott forced a Dodge County deputy from the transport vehicle en route from Lincoln Diagnostic and Evaluation Center to Dodge County Jail, according to a Dodge County Sheriff's Department press release. The deputy was taken to Fremont Health Medical Center for treatment as a precautionary measure, the release states.Scott had been serving a two- to four-year sentence since April 11, 2016, for his fifth DUI offense, and was due to be released Oct. 21, according to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services. NEW YORK (AP) — A judge has rejected a .5 million proposed bail package for Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend, saying her incarceration is necessary to ensure she faces trial on charges she recruited teenage girls for Epstein to sexually abuse. U.S. District Judge Alison J. Nathan rejected the proposed bail for Ghislaine Maxwell on Monday. According to The Associated Press, Maxwell and her husband, who has never been publically identified, offered their entire wealth - .5 million - plus millions more of friends and family's assets to secure her bail.But she did not immediately release an opinion explaining her reasoning. Maxwell was arrested in early July. She has remained at a federal lockup in Brooklyn ever since Nathan said there were no bail conditions that would ensure she would not flee. “For substantially the same reasons as the Court determined that detention was warranted in the initial bail hearing, the Court again concludes that no conditions of release can reasonably assure the Defendant’s appearance at future proceedings,” Nathan wrote Monday in the order.Nathan added that the government met its burden of persuasion that Maxwell poses as a flight risk.“In reaching that conclusion, the Court considers the nature and circumstances of the offenses charged, the weight of the evidence against the Defendant, the history and characteristics of the Defendant, and the nature and seriousness of the danger that the Defendant’s release would pose,” Nathan added.Epstein killed himself in August 2019 at a Manhattan federal jail as he awaited a sex trafficking trial. 1607

NEW YORK (AP) — The playwright behind such comedic hits such as "The Odd Couple" and "Plaza Suite," has died. Neil Simon was 91.According to Bill Evans, Simon's longtime friend and the Shubert Organization director of media relations, says the playwright died early Sunday of complications from pneumonia in a Manhattan hospital.Simon was the American theater's most successful and prolific playwright in the second half of the 20th century. He won three regular Tonys, plus one for special achievement, as well as a Pulitzer and the Mark Twain prize for humor.Simon's successes included "The Sunshine Boys," ''Plaza Suite" and "Sweet Charity." Many of his plays were adapted into movies and one, "The Odd Couple," became a popular TV series. 750
