SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Despite the early morning wake-up call, San Diegans still got out to catch NASA's first interplanetary rocket launch from the West Coast.San Diegans unfazed by the 4 a.m. start time broke out their cameras and looked up to the sky to catch the Atlas 5 rocket take off from Vandenberg Air Force Base just north.Some users took to Instagram, others to our 10News Weather Watchers Facebook page. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Democrats' 5-4 majority on the technically nonpartisan San Diego City Council will increase to 6-3, a majority immune to Mayor Kevin Faulconer's veto.Democrat physician Jennifer Campbell defeated Republican incumbent District 2 City Councilwoman Lorie Zapf, winning 56 percent to 44 percent.  The subtraction of one Republican could have a major impact in terms of the balance of power. Her life was chronicled in a biography by her daughter, Sandra Scheller, and won the Multicultural Motion Pictures Award for best documentary. Scheller will accept the award posthumously for her mother.Colleen O'Harra: O'Harra is the founding Executive Director of the Oceanside Women's Resource Center and has served the city for eight years as an Oceanside City Council members and two years as Deputy Mayor.Bridgit Wilson: Wilson is a veteran who has advocated for LGBT active duty and military veterans, working to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and helping craft the Obama Administration's policy allowing transgender individuals to serve openly.Dorothy Smith: Smith served on the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education and was the first African American woman elected to public office in the county.
