SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a 16-year-old was shot and killed in Lincoln Park Saturday night.Police responded to the 4900 block of Magnus Way around 10:20 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.When they arrived, officers found the teen in a driveway with a single gunshot wound. The 16-year-old was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police say. Police say the teen has been identified, but his name isn’t being released at this time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego firefighters found themselves in an unusual position Thursday, battling flames inside a city water tower. The fire broke out as crews were demolishing the tower on federal property in Point Loma. Officials said some of the materials the demolition team was using to cut the tank apart caught the scaffolding on fire. “The wind today drove that fire and blew it very quickly,” a firefighter told 10News. With much of the tower covered in plastic, firefighters had to go inside, climbing through scaffolding with their hoses. “The potential for three rescues and the hook and ladder trucks out here, I thought maybe this is a serious event but they seem to have it completely under control,” said neighbor Casey Schnoor. Firefighters spent the afternoon hosing down the rest of the tower as a precaution. 839

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County health officials have warned at least three local churches about having services indoors. The county sent out three letters to Skyline Church in La Mesa; Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lemon Grove; and Awaken Church's campus on Balboa Avenue in Kearny Mesa.The letters to Skyline and Lighthouse were very similar, saying indoor services create "significant risk of spreading COVID-19," encouraging the churches to move their in-person services outside. The third document is a cease-and-desist letter sent to Awaken Church ordering the church to stop indoor operations. All three letters are dated July 17 and are signed by County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten. The latest round of wet weather is expected to be the heaviest in San Diego County, bringing between half an inch to an inch of rain to the coast. According to the National Weather Service, parts of San Diego County could see heavy snow.
