Federal agents who have clashed with protesters in Portland, Oregon, will begin a “phased withdrawal” from Oregon’s largest city, Gov. Kate Brown said Wednesday. (KGTV) - Construction is underway on bike and pedestrian improvement projects in North San Diego County.Paths will be built beneath the Interstate 5 overpasses at Santa Fe Drive and Encinitas Blvd.The work, which will cost .5 million, should be finished in late summer 2019.During construction, drivers can expect traffic delays. There will also be periodic noise and lights.“Construction activities have been designed to reduce impacts to anyone using these intersections,” said Caltrans Project Manager Arturo Jacobo. “While there will be narrowed lanes, we do not anticipate any lane closures during construction. Additionally, we are installing a temporary protected path for pedestrians and people on bikes, which now only exists along westbound Santa Fe Drive.”The projects are part of the North Coast Corridor Program, which will eventually add carpool lanes to I-5, double track the coastal rail corridor, provide walking and biking trails, and complete environmental restoration. 1017

FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) - A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Friday when a tree fell on him during a period of high winds in Fallbrook.The tree that injured the motorcycle rider fell on South Mission Road and West Elder Street, according to North County Fire. The unidentified man was flown to Palomar Hospital. Another tree fell at De Luz Road and Patton Oaks Friday afternoon, shutting down De Luz for about two hours. San Diego County Roads crews assisted firefighters in clearing the street. FALLBROOK, Calif. (KGTV) — Bar patrons foiled a robbery Saturday by rushing the accused gunman and holding him until deputies arrived.Patrons at the Red Eye Saloon at 1448 South Mission Rd. in Fallbrook were in the bar's parking lot around 2 a.m. when a man pulled a gun on them and demanded their wallets and cell phones, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Fidel Moreno, fired one shot in the air, witnesses told deputies.MAP: Track crime happening in your neighborhoodFearing for their safety, the group rushed Moreno and tackled him, according to deputies, and held him down until deputies got there.A 9mm pistol loaded with a 16 round magazine, with one casing missing, were found at the scene, deputies said. A spent shell casing was located near where Moreno was being held down.Deputies said Moreno was also in possession of two loaded 10 round magazines.Moreno was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, negligent discharge of a firearm, and other firearm charges.He's scheduled to appear in court Aug. 21 and is being held on 0,000 bail. 1142
