ASSISI, Italy (AP) — A 15-year-old Italian computer whiz who died of leukemia in 2006 has moved a step closer to possible sainthood with his beatification in the town of Assisi. Carlo Acutis is the youngest contemporary person to be beatified. He follows two Portuguese shepherd children living in the early 1900s who were proclaimed Catholic saints in 2017. Already touted as the “patron saint of the internet,” Acutis created a website to catalog miracles and took care of websites for Catholic organizations. While still in elementary school, Acutis taught himself to code using a university computer science textbook, and then how to edit videos and create animation. Kevin McCarthy, the current No. 2 Republican and House majority leader, who is viewed as the favorite to succeed Ryan."I think we have to match the President's intensity on changing this town as we move forward," Jordan told CNN on Wednesday when asked about his bid for minority leader and a challenge to McCarthy.Asked about how House Republicans can counter a Democratic majority pursuing oversight of the President and the administration, Jordan said, "You stand up for the truth. You stand up and defend the White House and the President." Ashland University in Ohio is offering a new ,000 scholarship to talented Fortnite players."Fortnite Battle Royale" will be offered in fall 2018 as part of the university's esports program.The AU esports team will be the first known program in the country to add the game to its official offerings. Head Coach Josh Buchanan is excited to add the popular game to the college's gaming titles."Fortnite appeals to both the core and casual gaming audience," said Buchanan in a news release. "We're excited to provide this platform for gamers who want to showcase their skills in a more competitive space."The team at Ashland will arrange four-player teams that practice regularly and compete together.Scholarships will be awarded to players based on skill level and academic requirements.The university plans to conduct open tryouts for Fortnite players next school year. Ashland already offers League of Legends, Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League in their esports program. The coach hopes eventually other schools will for programs to set up collegiate leagues for the team to compete against.  1184
