SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly 5,000 San Diegans are set to gather throughout the county for a morning of prayer Saturday.The event, called "We Pray San Diego" will bring 4,900 people together as well as 132 pastors and several county leaders. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- National City police are searching for the driver linked to a hit-and-run crash that killed a skateboarder earlier this month.Police said on July 10, at around 12:30 a.m., 28-year-old Victor Ernest Morales was riding his skateboard northbound on the street in the 500 block of Palm Avenue when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle at a high rate of speed.The vehicle sped away, leaving Morales on the road, police said. He suffered major injuries and later died.According to police, Morales’ girlfriend and a friend were with him at the time of the incident.The vehicle in the case is believed to be a silver-colored, 4-door, 1999-2002 Toyota Echo. Police said the vehicle likely has damage to the front driver’s side, as well as damage to the driver’s side headlight and windshield.A surveillance camera captured a photo of the vehicle believed to be involved in the collision, and police are asking any businesses in the area that may have video of the vehicle before or after the crash to contact them.Investigators are also asking vehicle repair shops to be on the lookout for the vehicle due to its damage from the crash.Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the National City Police Department’s Investigations Unit at 619-336-4474 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.A reward of up to ,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in the case. 1434

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver they say struck and killed a pedestrian in Mission Hills Thursday before fleeing the scene.According to police, the 57-year-old man was struck by the vehicle while crossing the street on the 1300 block of West Washington Avenue just after midnight. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Based on their investigation, police believe the suspect’s vehicle is a 2001-2002 Hyundai Sonata with damage to the headlamps or windshield.Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division at 858-495-7805 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime stoppers is offering up to a ,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. 758

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New details are emerging after an infant was attacked by a pit bull in Logan Heights Monday night.Family members now say the dog broke free of its leash before running to the infant’s bouncy chair. The pit bull was reportedly startled by the chair, leading to the attack.8-week-old Jema Gonzales is said to be in serious condition and has so far had one surgery.RELATED: Baby severely injured by pit bull bite in Logan HeightsThe incident happened on Irving Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Monday. After the attack, paramedics took Jema to the hospital with lacerations to the face and possibly a punctured eye. Witnesses originally said the dog licked then bit Jema’s face. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Monday, the California National Guard confirmed that its service members were recently sent to two San Diego nursing homes that needed help treating residents who were sick with COVID-19.“We supplemented their existing staff- their civilian staff- with our medical teams here in the California National Guard,” Lt. Col. Jonathan Shiroma told ABC10 and said that they were deployed at the direction of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).The National Guard reports that 20 troops were sent to Santee's Stanford Court nursing facility for a week in October and another 20 troops were sent to El Cajon's Villa Las Palmas for two weeks in November.Lt. Col. Shiroma said teams tested patients and staff and offered other supportive care. “Within the Guard we also have many medical professionals so each of the teams were led by either a physician assistant or a registered nurse or an LPN,” he added.“If you have an outbreak, you have staff that has to quarantine and so in order to provide care you want to get people into the building to help with the residents,” Deborah Pacyna with the California Association of Health Facilities told ABC10 News.The CDPH reports that since the start of the pandemic, 50 healthcare workers have tested positive at the El Cajon facility where 91 residents have gotten the virus and 45 healthcare workers have tested positive at the Santee facility where 58 residents have contracted COVID-19.The National Guard said that it doesn't have any current missions in San Diego but it's always ready. “If something comes in the next few weeks and there’s a need in any part of the state, the California National Guard will respond appropriately,” added Lt.
