SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are asking the public for help identifying the person they believe stabbed a man to death in Pacific Beach last week.Police say the suspect was engaged in a fight with a 55-year-old man outside the 7-Eleven store at 4340 Mission Boulevard, when he stabbed the victim several times. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect fled the scene.Surveillance footage of the suspect was released this week. The suspect is described as a 20- to 30-year-old black male, about 5'8" to 5'10" tall, and was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and a black hat at the time of the stabbing. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Resources are available throughout San Diego County for victims of domestic violence who believe their situation may turn life threatening.“There’s nothing more tragic than this happening. This is exactly what we never want to see happen again,” said Heather Finlay with the YWCA. Finlay says she was devastated after learning of the mother and her children killed over the weekend. YWCA offers an emergency shelter and transitional housing for parents and families dealing with domestic violence. According to SANDAG, in 2018, more than 17,000 domestic violence incidents were reported in San Diego County. “Leaving an intimate partnership is never easy especially if there are children involved,” said Yvette Lopez-Cooper with the San Diego Family Justice Center. The order doesn’t become active until the abuser is served and made aware of the action. “Many times, these court orders do work and the violent behaviors stops. A safety care plan includes having a packed bag somewhere safe with clothes and copies of personal documents and planning an escape route. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego City Councilman Chris Cate sent a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom's office on Monday, asking that comedy clubs in San Diego be allowed to reopen safely.The letter requests that performances be allowed to reopen in outdoor settings, with shows lasting no longer than an hour."We're not talking about concerts here where thousands of people are sitting next to each other," Cate said. "These are performances that are done while folks and individuals are having dinner in a restaurant setting, properly distanced, why should they be treated any differently?"Earlier this month, some comedy clubs, like The Comedy Palace in Kearney Mesa, moved their comedy shows outdoors, only to find out they were in violation of public health orders and made to stop.George Salek, co-owner of The Comedy Place, said they have a lot of outdoor space, and people were able to observe social distancing."Eighty people is what we're trying to put in 5,000 square feet," he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Restaurant workers across San Diego County returned to work Friday, after a Superior Court judge ruled restaurants could serve on-site.Martin Cardenas was right back on the job Friday morning, prepping Chula Vista's El Cruce 241 for what he hoped was a sizable lunch crowd.“You have to understand, it is around the holidays, we're social distancing, we're sanitizing everything, we're doing everything in our capacity to stay safe,” he said.But the governor's office says those precautions are still not enough, with ICU capacity at 0% in Southern California due to the coronavirus spread.In early December, the state reduced county restaurants to takeout only, eliminating thousands of jobs.
