Instead, there’s a federal fund for those who can prove their injuries were caused by the vaccine less than one year after receiving it.“They only pay non-covered medical expenses and lost wages as a general rule so it’s a big difference from the general vaccine compensation program which will pay for uncovered medical expenses, lost wages, future medical expenses, pain suffering, and disability,” Konkel said.Dr. Ryan Westergaard is Wisconsin’s chief medical officer of communicable diseases. He’s trying to convince those who are skeptical of the vaccine that it is the quickest way to return to normalcy.“The process that this vaccine was used to be developed was transparent and worthy of trust,” he said.Dr. Westergaard said there are two ways to understand the safety of vaccines, clinical trials followed by post-use surveillance. Those who administer vaccines are required to report any issues patients to encounter.“There haven’t been any long term negative consequences although it is early,” Dr. Westergaard said.Another way the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention plans to get data about vaccine side effects is through a smartphone application called ‘V-safe’. (AP) — A Southern California school district will pay million to the parents of a 13-year-old boy who drowned in a high school pool.A lawsuit settlement between the family of Alex Pierce and the Murrieta Valley Unified High School District was announced Tuesday.Alex was at a 2016 pool party at Vista Murrieta High School when he got into trouble and was underwater for several minutes.Classmates pulled him out but the student lifeguards didn't perform CPR. The comatose teen was removed from life support a month later.The lawsuit said the school district lacked proper safety policies.The district didn't acknowledge any wrongdoing but agreed to change its safety plan and train all faculty in CPR. MLB and the league’s player union held negotiations this week, days after a contentious series of statements between the league and union indicated the 2020 season is in peril.The league and players are working on a plan to begin the 2020 season after it was postponed by the spread of the coronavirus. With most professional sports leagues coming back this summer, MLB has yet to formalize a plan for resumption.MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said that a new set of proposals have been forwarded to the players.The tone from Manfred on Wednesday differed from earlier in the week.“We left that meeting with a jointly developed framework that we agreed could form the basis of an agreement and subject to conversations with our respective constituents,” Manfred said. “I summarized that framework numerous times in the meeting and sent Tony a written summary today. Multiple people were injured Thursday when a school bus collided with a dump truck and flipped over in Mount Olive Township in Morris County, New Jersey, officials said.The Associated Press reports that one adult and one student were killed.Mount Olive Mayor Rob Greenbaum, who saw the aftermath of the highway crash from an overpass, described the scene as "horrific." He told HLN Thursday there were possible ejections in the crash.At least three hospitals have received patients from the accident, including two believed to be children, officials said.The bus was transporting students from East Brook Middle School in Paramus, New Jersey, according to a school official."Our hearts are broken by today's tragedy," Gov.
