ENCINITAS (CNS) - A woman is dead today after being struck and killed by a vehicle in Encinitas, authorities said.At 8 p.m. Saturday, the victim, in her 50s, was hit by a vehicle traveling northbound on the 2600 block of South Coast (101) Highway, according to the San Diego Sheriff's Department.``The driver of the involved vehicle stopped immediately and remained at the scene of the collision,'' said Sgt. Jeffrey Houser, with the NorthCoastal Station. ``The driver and nearby bystanders rendered medical aid to the injured pedestrian.''The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the collision. ESPN is expected to cut at least another 100 employees after Thanksgiving, marking the company's third round of layoffs in the last three years, Sports Illustrated reported on Thursday. According to SI, the layoffs are expected to include several anchors from ESPN's longest-running program "SportsCenter." ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — One person is dead following a multi-car crash on Interstate 15 in North San Diego County.A 25-year-old man from Chula Vista was behind the wheel of a Mustang traveling southbound on I-15 collided with at least three vehicles just before 6:30 a.m. just north of the State Route 76 connector, according to California Highway Patrol.The driver of the Mustang was seriously injured and taken to Palomar Medical Center, where he later died. Dave Perkins said.The victim was Roberta Walker, executive director of the Cardiff 101 Main Street Association, The Coast News reported. Walker is known as a staunch defender of pedestrian and cyclist rights.She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Perkins said.
