SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Shake Shack will flip on the lights and open its doors at Carmel Valley's One Paseo development on Monday.The East Coast burger chain welcomes its third San Diego location Monday, March 18, at 3705 Paseo Place, Suite 1140, at 11 a.m., according to the chain. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego student Emily Benkes says her mother has lived in their Carmel Mountain home for 32 years, never once feeling unsafe in the neighborhood.Tuesday, Benkes came home to a ransacked house. “We had our laptops out, I had some money on my desk, Xbox was gone, my Apple TV,” said Benkes. Benkes believes the person hopped their backyard fence, coming in from a nearby trail. Food was missing from the fridge, including a package of salami which they later found on the trail. The suspect entered the home by throwing a rock through the back window and climbing in. “I felt really violated, I couldn’t even go in my room just because I kept thinking that there was somebody in here going through my stuff,” Benkes.She posted what happened on Nextdoor, and now neighbors are trying to help; one neighbor believes their surveillance video captured someone hopping the fence. “I hope we catch this person and nobody else has this happen to them,” said Benkes. The family estimates several thousand dollars worth of goods were stolen; they have filed a report with the San Diego Police Department. 1122

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego veterans from WWII and the Korean War are getting ready for a special trip. This weekend they'll board an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.10News is getting exclusive access to the trip and was at Honor Flight San Diego's last planning meeting before the special weekend gets off the ground. David Smith, Founder of Honor Flight San Diego, says it's incredibly important to thank our veterans while there's still time. The oldest veteran on this weekend's flight will be 99-years-old. "I've actually had veterans come up to me and say, 'ya know, in all these years no one has ever said thank you to me - this means so much'," said Smith.The group relies on fundraising to make the honor flight a reality - it costs 0,000 for the entire weekend.Our coverage of the Honor Flight continues Friday morning when Reporter Amanda Brandeis boards the plane with the veterans and will continue through Sunday when they all return to San Diego. Honor Flight San Diego welcomes the community to join the Sunday's homecoming at the San Diego International Airport. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Saturday morning, coffee enthusiasts will sample a rare coffee grown for the first time right here in San Diego.The geisha coffee bean, generally grown in Panama, is a rare coffee bean known for its unique flavor profile. The variety grown in Oceanside has tasting notes of jasmine tea, honey, key lime pie, and elderflower, according to Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, who are offering the coffee.?The bean's exclusivity is also reflected in its price. Bird Rock will sell pour over cups Saturday at 10 a.m. at all locations for each. It can also be purchased online, starting at 0 for 4 ounces.RELATED: Coffee grown in San Diego? Jay Ruskey, CEO of Frinj, says he's hopeful Southern California becomes a new powerhouse for coffee growers.“We would love to see another 50,000 coffee plants here in Southern California this year, and expand to millions in the next ten years,” said Ruskey. “I see a rapid expansion I think it's going to be huge [in San Diego]." 1532
