Four hurricane names have been retired after a devastating 2017 hurricane season. The World Meteorological Organization's Hurricane Committee determined Harvey, Irma, Maria and Nate would be retired from the committee's list of rotating names. The names have been replaced by Harold, Idalia, Margot and Nigel. Names are retired if a hurricane is particularly destructive or costly. Damages from the 2017 hurricane season exceeded 0 billion in the United States alone while several hundred people died throughout the world from hurricanes in 2017, according to WMO. The 2017 hurricane season featured three category 4 hurricanes making landfall, including Harvey, Irma and Maria. FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- Police in Flagstaff say a group of teens killed a 23-year-old man after he allegedly inappropriately touched one of the girls involved in the killing.Flagstaff police said on Friday that Jaron James was found dead on Sept. 7 and that four teens, including two who are underage, have been arrested.Police say James was killed at a motel and that the suspects knew him. They say the group attacked James after he touched one of the suspects, a 16-year-old girl from Flagstaff.Eighteen-year-old Lawrence Sampson-Kahn and 19-year-old Kayson Russell are among the four arrested. FORT MYERS, Fla. —A man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to set a Planned Parenthood on fire in Fort Myers, Florida.The Lee County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that Everett Little was taken into custody after a search warrant was served at his home.The 20-year-old man is being charged with arson, criminal mischief, and using an incendiary device.Officers believe Little committed arson at the facility on Commerce Park Drive on Oct. 10.The act was caught on surveillance cameras and law enforcement distributed the photos of the suspect, asking the public for help locating him.In the end, authorities said they identified Little thanks to the community’s help."That act was caught on camera, and through Crime Stoppers, he's behind bars," said Sheriff Carmine Marceno in a statement on Facebook. FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A man who lost an eye after being struck by a tear gas canister police in Indiana fired during a May protest over George Floyd’s death is suing the city and a police officer. Twenty-one-year-old Balin Brake's federal lawsuit contends the injury “has permanently changed his life." He's seeking damages from the city of Fort Wayne and the unidentified officer who fired the canister. The Journal Gazette reports that Brake's right eye had to be surgically removed after it was struck by a tear gas canister during the May 30 protest. City spokesman John Perlich declined to comment on the pending litigation. 634
