SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- With the drop of a banner, the Rock Church replaced the old sign of the Body Shop Strip Club purchased by the church.The church says they’re unsure what they’ll do with the building, but Thursday, they made it clear it’s no longer a strip club.It was quite the presentation, dozens of people, a stage and a sound system. The church and several investors brought the club and its license for .2 million.Councilmember Lorie Zapf said the move is the beginning of a new future for the Midway with a vision of parks, families and a new welcoming look. “Midway is no longer going to be the red light district of yesteryear.”The problem with the plan, however, is the building sits just feet away from another strip club. “They started harassing me in April, I was called about 15 times by their broker,” said Kathleen Morgan, who owns Les Girls Theater.“It’s easy to stigmatize this type of business. But we don’t even have male bouncers, we don’t even serve alcohol, we’re old school burlesque,” Morgan said.On stage Thursday, was a pledge to take over Morgan’s place. “I’m hoping that they can acquire the property next door. Once the Midway plan is approved, they’ll be able to plan for the future of what’s allowed here by the zoning,” Zapf said.Morgan says investors are trying to driver her out. The church says they aren’t involved in that. “That’s something that will have to take its own course, we’re not necessarily pushing that,” said McPherson.Morgan also says the business has been vandalized recently, adding if she sells, it won’t be to the church. “In 50 years we’ve never had this type of vandalism, we’ve never had these types of issues. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- UC San Diego has some of the best graduate programs and schools in the U.S., according to a new report by U.S. News and World Report. Engineering, medicine and management all took top spots on the list. According to the report, UC San Diego’s Jacobs School of Engineering was ranked 11th overall in the U.S. and 6th in the nation among public engineering schools. The school’s bioengineering program placed 5th in the nation. Khosla. “We offer students an education that enriches and inspires them. It's back to the store. David Warren's sofa just didn't look right. So he was back at the Target store in Kearny Mesa Saturday afternoon."I'm just returning these pillows and shirts," Warren said. "I'm going to swap them out for something smaller."Fernando Delacruz and his wife bought themselves bicycles to kick start a healthy New Year's resolution."I figured I'm going to need a bike so I can exercise," Delacruz said. "And then my wife said, 'Oh that's a cool Christmas gift for me too!'"The couple bought their bikes at target.com. Delacruz's fit perfectly, but his wife's did not."When she tried it on, it was kind of a little big for her," Delacruz said. "So we have to return it."The pandemic has caused a surge in online shoppers, a saving grace for retailers. But not being able to touch and feel the products means there have been a record-setting number of returns. Experts say returns will cost companies more than billion this holiday season. But retailers have managed to make the return process much easier, many places not even requiring receipts."We do have a Target card, and they can trace it from there, so we didn't have to worry about that," Delacruz said.Delacruz says now they are at the store to return what didn't fit and replace it with one that does."We're probably going to look for another bike today," Delacruz said.According to the 2020 Deloitte Holiday Retail Survey, 45% of shoppers prefer the "buy online, return in-store or curbside" service. 1732
