(KGTV) -- Several people were taken into Border Patrol custody early Monday morning after a panga boat washed ashore in Imperial Beach.At around 3:30 a.m., Border Patrol agents and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an area near Seacoast Drive and Encanto Avenue after a panga boat was reportedly spotted on the beach.ABC 10News learned agents took about 20 people -- believed to be undocumented migrants -- into custody.Agents and deputies fanned out to search the area for more boat passengers, but there was no immediate word on additional arrests. 585

HUDSON, Ohio — A Hudson woman who hosted a large house party at a rental home in October was convicted in Municipal Court Tuesday for violating state health orders to prevent the spread of coronavirus.The woman was convicted of violations prohibited and criminal damaging, both second-degree misdemeanors, according to court records.On Oct. 10, the woman used a website to rent a home in the 6800 block of Windsor Road in Hudson, according to court records. More than 150 people attended the party, in excess of the number of people allowed by the mass gatherings order that limits groups to no more than 10 people.Attendees caused more than ,500 in damage to the property, according to court records.The Akron Beacon Journal reported that on the night of the party, police were called to the scene and multiple vehicles were towed throughout the night. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday released a new proposal that includes .2 trillion in spending, and sends direct payment of ,200 to most Americans.The proposal still costs more than the White House has said it would like, but is down from the .4 trillion stimulus plan House Democrats passed back in May.In addition to another set of ,200 direct payments to millions of Americans, House Democrats propose using 5 million for education, more funding for the struggling airline industry, and 6 million for local governments. The set of proposals would also include a 0 per week unemployment supplement, which expired at the end of July.“This .2 trillion Heroes Act provides the absolutely needed resources to protect lives, livelihoods and the life of our democracy over the coming months,” Pelosi said in a letter to House Democrats. “It includes new funding needed to avert catastrophe for schools, small businesses, restaurants, performance spaces, airline workers and others.”Last week, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin confirmed that he and Pelosi agreed to relaunch negotiations on a stimulus plan.Earlier this month, Senate Republicans attempted to pass a “slimmed down” stimulus bill with a cost of 0 billion. Hurricane Maria was upgraded to a Category 5 hurricane on Monday, with top sustained winds of 160 MPH. As the hurricane continues to churn in the Atlantic Ocean, it is expected to strike Puerto Rico on Wednesday. The hurricane could prove to be a disastrous blow to more than 3 million Americans in Puerto Rico. Because of the threat posed to the US territory, Puerto Rico was placed under a hurricane warning by the National Hurricane Center.Earlier on Monday, forecasters predicted Maria's rapid intensification. "Significant strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Maria is expected to become a dangerous major hurricane before it moves through the Leeward Islands," according to the National Hurricane Center's latest update.  Maria has prompted a hurricane warning for Martinique, Guadeloupe, Dominica, St. Kitts, Nevis and Montserrat. As of early Monday evening, the storm was passing over Dominica. Torrential rainfall could cause deadly flash flooding and mudslides on islands that it crosses. Maria could dump 6 to 12 inches of rain across the Leeward Islands -- including Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands -- through Wednesday night."We want to alert the people of Puerto Rico that this is not an event like we've ever seen before," Gov. Ricardo Rosselló told reporters Monday.And for the first time in 85 years, Puerto Rico is expected to suffer a direct landfall from a Category 4 or 5 hurricane.
