KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City FBI agent who rushed to help survivors at the Pentagon on 9/11 died Thursday from brain cancer.Melissa S. Morrow, 48, died after a long battle with the disease. Morrow was certified by The World Trade Center Health Program and the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, and as a result of her actions on 9/11, her death is classified as a line of duty death.Morrow was working in the FBI’s Washington Field Office at the time of the attack.When the plane hit the Pentagon, Morrow, who was 31 at the time, responded to the crash site and spent the next 10 weeks there and at an evidence warehouse. During those 10 weeks, Morrow was exposed to hazardous contaminants.Les Kerry, Team Leader of the Missouri Law Enforcement Funeral Assistance Team, said that Special Agent Morrow’s death is a chilling reminder that the 9/11 tragedy continues to take lives. “Just an average citizen who didn’t know her, it’s going to bring back some memories of where you were that day of the tragedy and the travesty that took place on 911 and the days and months to follow,” said Kerry.  Morrow served in the Kansas City office from 2010 to 2018.She will be given a hero’s burial with bagpipes playing taps, a 21 gun salute, and a flyover. Morrow is survived by her mother, father and sister.Visitation is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri. Kentucky Speaker of the House Jeff Hoover resigned from his position Sunday amid sexual harassment allegations, saying he had made "mistakes."Hoover, who The Courier-Journal newspaper in Louisville reported had secretly settled a sexual harassment allegation by a woman on his legislative staff, did not resign as a state representative, however, and has denied all allegations."I did make mistakes, in that I engaged in inappropriate text messages," the Republican lawmaker said at a press conference announcing his decision. "I engaged in banter that was consensual, yet make no mistake, it was wrong on my part to do that. And for that I am truly sorry."The Courier-Journal was the first to report Hoover's settlement last week, citing sources with direct knowledge of the matter. The settlement involved three other Republican state representatives and Hoover's chief of staff, the newspaper reported.Hoover and his accuser, whom the Courier-Journal has not identified because she says she was sexually harassed, declined to comment, as did a lawyer for the woman, the newspaper said.Hoover asked for the public's forgiveness in a tearful statement on Sunday, saying, "To say that the past few weeks and days have been trying and difficult for me and my family would be an understatement."Kentucky's House speaker pro tempore, Republican David Osborne, said in a statement that he will be assuming operational control of the chamber as acting speaker.Hoover's resignation comes a day after Kentucky Gov. KENOSHA, Wis. – Jacob Blake, the man shot in the back by a police officer in Kenosha, is no longer shackled to his hospital bed.Friday morning, Blake’s father told CNN during an interview that his son remained shackled to his bed, even though he is currently paralyzed from the waist down as a result of the officer-involved shooting on Sunday.In the interview, Jacob Blake, Sr. said it "bothered" him that his son remained shackled in "cold steel" despite his condition."He can't get up. He can't get up if he wanted to," Blake Sr. said. "So, that's a little overkill to have him shackled to the bed. That makes no sense to me."Blake’s attorney, Patrick Cafferty, confirmed to WTMJ that the handcuffs confining the 29-year-old to his bed were removed around noon Friday and the officers that were posted in his hospital room have left.A spokesman for the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office explained to CNN on Friday that Blake was handcuffed to the bed because he had felony warrants for his arrest from crimes he allegedly committed prior to the shooting.Cafferty says the warrant has since been vacated, but domestic violence charges from July are still pending.The attorney also says a district attorney helped in the process of getting the cuffs removed and that 0 cash bond was posted in relation to the July charges.Blake has been hospitalized since Sunday afternoon when he was shot in the back at least seven times as Kenosha police officers attempted to take him into custody. The officer who fired his weapon, Rusten Sheskey, has been placed on administrative leave.While police have not announced formal charges against Blake or said why they attempted to arrest him, they've claimed that officers had been called to his girlfriend's house because he wasn't "supposed to be there." Police have also said that Blake admitted he was in possession of a knife, which was later found in his car.Throughout the country, it's standard procedure for police to shackle a suspect to a hospital bed if that person is under arrest.Blake's father also told CNN that his son was "hallucinating" when he went to visit."He grabbed my hand and began to weep and he told me that he was hallucinating. And then he said, 'I love you, dad. Daddy, I love you.,'" Blake said. "His next question was, 'Why'd they shoot me so many times?' I said, 'Baby, they weren't supposed to shoot you at all.'"He also told CNN that he spoke to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, earlier this week.
