NORTH PARK, Calif. (KGTV) - Peking Restaurant, a staple of the North Park food scene for 88 years, will close in March of 2019.The owners made the announcement on their Facebook page earlier this month, saying it was time to retire."I'm going on 75 years old," co-owner Ken Fong told 10News. "It's time to enjoy my last few years."The Facebook post says "This decision did not come lightly to us as Pekin is such a special place in our hearts and we love what we do and all of you. A majority of our incredible staff here have been with us 25-40 years... and are ready for the next chapter of retirement and new endeavors."Fong says it's not just the owners who want to retire, but cooks and servers as well.Since word got out about the closure, the restaurant has been flooded with people who want one more meal at a place that became the go-to spot for Chinese food in the area."It's overwhelming," says Fong. "It's driving us nuts. Everyone is overworked."Fond adds that he doesn't mind the extra work, but he didn't expect this kind of reaction.In the wake of the extra crowds, the restaurant put up a sign warning customers that wait times may take longer than usual. They say they don't want to add capacity, so they can give customers the same level of service they've always had.People in the area say it's sad to see such a great place go away."This is something I've known my whole life. I'm going to miss it," says Barbara Sims. She used to come with her parents as a child. Now she brings her grandkids to the restaurant when they visit.Fong says he appreciates all the well wishes he's received in the past few weeks."They all want to come back and have one last memory," he says. He even went by the very unhip nickname Yog.A loving portrait of a young, striving Michael is offered in a new book by his closest friend and former bandmate, Andrew Ridgeley. His "Wham! George Michael & Me" is part memoir and part monument to one of the biggest pop stars of the 1980s."The point of the book was really to illustrate our friendship and how it really formed," Ridgeley told The Associated Press. "It's very difficult to put it into words or really put your finger on exactly what it was that people found so attractive about Wham! But it was a lot to do with George and me and our friendship."In the book, Ridgeley traces the rise of Wham! and key moments in the band's career, like the creation of hits like "Careless Whisper" and "Everything She Wants," their appearances at Live Aid and the time in 1985 when the band became the first Western pop group to visit China.But while this may be Ridgely's memoir, Michael looms large and the book peters out after Wham! broke up in 1986 as Michael's star soared, almost as if the most interesting thing Ridgeley has to write about is his friend, who died on Christmas Day 2016.There are fun anecdotes, such as the drunken hijinks that accompanied the video shoot for "Last Christmas," the reason why Ridgeley wasn't part of Band Aid and the note he drunkenly wrote on his parents' fridge that became the title of a Wham! hit: "Mum, wake me up up before you go go."The book also deals with more weighty subjects, like how their lives changed as tabloids stalked the pair and that during the band's life Michael realized he was gay but remained closeted. It was a business decision to stay there."He felt it would undermine us and our chances of success. And it was very important to both of us that Wham! was a success that we wished for," Ridgeley said. "It was tough for him. There's no doubt about that. And it caused him a great deal of discomfort."Ridgeley met a 13-year-old Michael — born Georgios Panayiotou to a Cypriot family — in 1975, at school in Hertfordshire, England. NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — A New Port Richey, Florida man has been arrested after he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl at his house while playing Grand Theft Auto, deputies say. The alleged rape was witnessed by another gamer who overheard the incident while playing the game with the suspect over PlayStation 4. Daniel Enrique Fabian, 18, was arrested on Wednesday, November 21 and charged with lewd and lascivious battery in connection to the incident which occurred on June 28, 2018. The 15-year-old girl was at Fabian's home at the time of the incident. Fabian is known to the victim. Fabian was playing Grand Theft Auto with another gamer when he told the other gamer he had a girl over at his house and he was going to "smash" her.Fabian stopped playing the game for 15 minutes and during that time, the other gamer says Fabian's microphone was still on and he could hear the victim moaning and saying "no." The victim told Fabian to stop four times, but he continued to have sexual intercourse with her, according to the arrest affidavit.After 15 minutes, Fabian resumed playing the video game with the other gamer. A Sexual Assault Victim Exam was done on the 15-year-old girl and the results supported the allegation of sexual abuse. Fabian was arrested and booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center. 1350

NEW YORK (AP) — In a sign of how the pandemic is remaking Hollywood traditions, AMC Theatres and Universal Studios on Tuesday announced an agreement for a shortened theatrical window, with the studio’s films playing for a minimum of just 17 days in cinemas compared to the typical 90 days.Studios have increasingly sought to shorten that window and deliver new movies more quickly into the home.After 17 days, Universal Pictures and Focus Features will have the option to make their films available across premium video on demand platforms, including Netflix, Amazon Prime and AMC Theatres On Demand.“The theatrical experience continues to be the cornerstone of our business.
