SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who groped and sexually assaulted four female students as they walked to their off-campus housing near SDSU pleaded guilty Monday.Minda Shewangizaw, 20, pleaded guilty to charges including felony and misdemeanor counts of false imprisonment and sexual battery.All four victims in the case, who ranged in age from 17 to 19, testified during the preliminary hearing.One of the victims said she and her roommate were walking home after midnight when Shewangizaw came up behind her and “grabbed her butt.RELATED: Women testify against UC Riverside student accused of groping near San Diego State”Her roommate said she noticed someone walking behind them before he began to chase them. "I said, You need to leave. He grabbed my hand and pulled me toward him. He pulled my shirt down and grabbed my breast."She said she kicked Shewangizaw and was able to break free.Another victim testified that she and another woman were on a pedestrian bridge heading back to their dorm when she heard footsteps and was smacked on her “behind” by Schewangizaw."I was livid. I said, What are you doing? Don't do that! He laughed it off."She said she kept walking when the defendant made a remark about her breasts before pulling her shirt down and putting his hands on her chest.A witness said Shewangizaw then grabbed her breast and buttocks and trapped her against a rail before laughing and walking away.The sentencing is scheduled for June 12. 1460

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego dentist is giving parents a new tool to win the battle over brushing.Dr. Kami Hoss recently released a singing toothbrush that pairs with augmented reality technology."We gotta come up with brushes that are really fun and educate in a fun way," says Dr. Hoss.The brush plays a song for two minutes, which is the amount of time dentists recommend for brushing teeth. While the song plays, kids can use an app to watch augmented reality characters come to life on their phones.The characters "pop out" of a sticker placed on the bathroom mirror and teach kids how to brush properly. Hoss says this is the first toothbrush to use AR."It's Pixar quality," says Dr. Hoss of the animation. "We spent years developing this to make sure it's beautiful."According to the CDC, around 20% of kindergarteners have some form of tooth decay. Studies show that children brush their teeth 73% longer when listening to music. The toothbrush also helps people know when it's time to buy a new one. If someone uses it to brush twice a day, the battery will die after three months. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A Marine Corps. family won a -million lawsuit against Lincoln Military Housing after they say mold sickened their children.The Charvat family moved to San Diego's military housing near the Marine Corps. Recruitment Depot in April 2015. Father and husband Matthew worked at MCRD.The lawsuit lists disturbing symptoms the family dealt with, including "diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, irritated eyes, watery eyes, fatigue, stuffy nose, sinus congestion, itchy skin, sneezing, sore and dry throat, chest tightness, runny nose, lethargy."Anna, 9, was brought to tears when she described what she and her family endured, "my breathing was bad, I got sick a lot and my brother," she said choking up.Her mother, Leigh, said she had to take Anna to the emergency room after Anna woke up in the middle of the night gasping for air.When it came to her 6-year-old son Johnathan, "you could hear him breathing downstairs, it was very loud we used to say he sounded like Darth Vader."She said she tried everything from a different diet to going to doctors to try and figure out why her family was sick."I felt everyone thought I was crazy. Doctors, family thought I was crazy," she said in anguish. Then, the family found vents covered in black mold."It was shocking, I was disgusted," Leigh said, but she was also relieved to find an answer."Okay this is it, let’s get rid of it and let’s get on with our lives so we can get back to the way things were," she said.The lawsuit stated the defendant, Lincoln Military Housing, "negligently, improperly, recklessly and in a non-controlled manner, exposing Plaintiffs to excessive moisture, dampness, and humidity, as well as microbial contamination."Leigh said the company tried to "put a band-aide" on the situation and didn't try to find the source of the mold, "we were still sick after all their attempts to clean."The family moved out and had to throw away toys and furniture to keep from contaminating their new home. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A random act of kindness at a Rancho Bernardo grocery store has a grateful grandma paying it forward. Kathy Yezarski went to the Albertsons at Rancho Bernardo and Poway Roads Friday night to buy milk and cereal for her grandchildren, who were staying at her home. She was about to pay for her groceries when she noticed a problem. “When I got to the checkout I was really embarrassed to see that I didn’t have my wallet,” Yezarski said. Yezarski thought she’d have to leave the items behind and return home when “a very kind young man” noticed her dilemma. “The man behind me very quickly said ‘I’ve got this,’” Yezarski said. Yezarski was mortified she had forgotten her wallet. “It was really touching to me…heartwarming that he would do that for someone.” Yezarski was so moved, she posted about the kind act on the Nextdoor app for her neighborhood. She was hoping the young man would see the post but she wasn’t expecting the reaction she received. “I didn’t realize when I posted until after I posted that two previous posts had been about recent shootings, and I think people were just reeling from that, feeling so upset and I think they needed to hear something positive. A lot of people said that: thank you for restoring my faith in humanity,” Yezarski said. She was inspired to perform a kind act of her own. “Beyond just thanking him, I thought - I’ve got to pay this forward. I went on the website for the San Diego Food Bank and donated. I thought, wow, I can’t just let this stop here, I can’t. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was stabbed to death in a Pacific Beach bathroom Sunday, and a man possibly linked to the incident was arrested, according to San Diego Police.SDPD officials said the stabbing was reported just after 7:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Grand Avenue as an assault with a deadly weapon with an injured man.Firefighters and lifeguards were the first arrive, and they found a 39-year-old white male bleeding from the upper torso in a men's bathroom, according to police. First aid was given within minutes and the man was taken to a hospital, but he died from his injuries.Police said witnesses reported seeing a man riding away from the scene on a bicycle immediately following the incident. A man matching witness descriptions was detained about a quarter-mile away from the scene and was questioned, according to SDPD officials.On Monday, officials announced 33-year-old Martin Alvarez was arrested and booked into County Jail on suspicion of murder.Police are not aware of any relationship between the victim and the suspect.Police are looking into whether cameras at nearby businesses have any video of the events surrounding the stabbing.
