OCEANSIDE (KGTV) - A big problem the homeless population faces is finding a safe place to bathe, that's why businesses are teaming up to help. Jordan Verdin has spent the last decade working with the homeless population in the North County. As a photographer, he’s always taking pictures and sharing their stories on social media. Part of Verdin’s love of taking pictures of the homeless is allowing them the opportunity of, “being seen and being heard but sometimes they might not want to be seen because of how they look so what we want to do I provide something that will eliminate that barrier”. He tells 10News, “One of the consistent needs shared with me is needing a place to shower”. After hearing that need repeated time and time again, he’s decided to work another project. Verdin mentioned the project to Oceanside business owner Jeanette Linnborn. Linnborn is the owner of coffee shop, Stay Golden. When Verdin brought the idea to Linnborn she jumped on board immediately. She tells 10News, “I was so excited about that I was like okay we can totally do this”. The shower trailer is made up of two sides, each equipped with a bathroom and shower. Verdin tells me 125 people will be able to shower daily. The shower trailer will stand as a liaison to help homeless back on their feet, “something as simple as a shower and a haircut just makes them feel human again” Verdin tells 10News. The cost of the shower trailer is ,000 and they have just reached the halfway point. There’s still a GoFundMe page set up to help them get the other half of funding. 1575

The tournaments and leagues are often hosted by video game studios — EA Sports, the maker of Madden NFL 19, was hosting the tournament in Jacksonville on Sunday. Early eSports tournaments focused on niche games and attracted mainly hard-core gamers as spectators, but that didn't stop spectators from turning out in droves. eSports has sold out arenas in China, Japan and even in the US as spectators watched the best of the best play games like World of Warcraft, League of Legends and Overwatch.But in the past few years, eSports has been going mainstream.In 2018, the NBA launched the NBA 2K League — a season-long competition featuring gamers playing an NBA video game for teams affiliated with actual NBA franchises. In addition, more than 60 colleges and universities throughout the country have eSports teams, some of which offers scholarships to gamers.Where are people watching eSports?The popularity of eSports has exploded in recent years, thanks to the streaming service Twitch. The website allows gamers to live-stream their gaming sessions, and some of the top-ranked gamers play in front of millions of viewers who live stream from their homes.Swedish gamer PewDiePie has more than 72 million subscribers combined between his Twitch and YouTube channels —despite making controversial comments in past months.Another gamer, Ninja, regularly gains 50,000 viewers per stream. Reports indicate he makes 0,000 annually by playing games like Fortnite and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.Sunday's mass shooting in Jacksonville was briefly streamed live on Twitch. ORLANDO, Fla. – The Walt Disney Company is planning to lay off about 32,000 of its employees early next year.The layoffs were announced in a filing with the U.S. Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Wednesday.The filing says the 32,000 workers affected are primarily in Disney’s parks, experiences and products division, and they’ll be terminated in the first half of fiscal 2021.Additionally, as of Oct. 3, about 37,000 employees who were not expecting to be terminated were placed on furlough, according to the filing.The news of the 32,000 layoffs comes about two months after Disney said it would be shedding about 28,000 jobs from its parks division in September. Officials told The Associated Press at the time that two-thirds of those layoff involved part-time workers, but they ranged from salaried employees to hourly workers.CNBC reports that the 28,000 workers are included in the 32,000 layoffs.The layoffs are a result of COVID-19's impact on Disney’s businesses and the theme park industry as a whole.“Due to the current climate, including COVID-19 impacts, and changing environment in which we are operating, the Company has generated efficiencies in its staffing, including limiting hiring to critical business roles, furloughs and reductions-in-force,” wrote Disney in its filing.As of Oct. 3, Disney says it employed about 203,000. Around 155,000 of those employees worked in the company’s parks, experiences and products segment. Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon has pulled out of a job as a correspondent for NBC at the Winter Games in South Korea.News broke earlier Sunday that Rippon, one of the first openly gay U.S. athletes to compete at the Olympics, was being hired to work on TV, digital and social media for NBC for the remainder of the Games in Pyeongchang.NBC tweeted out the news Sunday morning, welcoming the 28-year-old bronze medalist to its team.But Rippon said hours later that although he was "so flattered" by NBC's offer, he decided against the move because it would mean leaving his U.S. teammates and the Olympic Village."It's so important to me, you know, I worked so hard to be on this Olympic team, and my teammates and my friends were there for me during my events, and that meant so much to me, that I really feel like I need to be there for them during their events," he said on NBCSN.NBC's article online about Rippon becoming one of its correspondents now redirects readers to his Olympic profile page.Rippon later suggested he only learned about the network's plans to hire him from social media."I actually found everything out about the offer via twitter HAHA," he tweeted.
