BEIJING, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong on Saturday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
The prevention and control work should be conducted in a law-based, scientific and orderly way, said the meeting, adding that attention should be paid to monitoring, screening and warning.
"China will continue to firmly support Lao efforts to safeguard its sovereignty and dignity," said Xi. "Next year is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, and therefore the bilateral relationship will enter a critical stage."
Apart from government support, Beijing has been encouraging enterprises to strengthen cooperation with Shiyan. More than 160 Beijing companies have settled down there in the past five years, covering the sectors of energy, environmental protection, automobile accessories and food, said Zhang Xin, vice mayor of Shiyan.
