A watchdog group says it has found asbestos in several products, sold in a store targeted to teens and young girls. What do you think of when you hear the word asbestos?“I think of like commercials like where your loved one has been exposed to asbestos and you die,” one woman says. “I'm like, 'Oh my God,' it's terrible.”Another woman said, “Like in a house that's like shut down forever” she says. “There's asbestos in a house.”You don't usually think of makeup.Danny Katz with U.S. PIRG, a consumer watchdog group said it tested more than a dozen make up products and found "high levels of asbestos" in three. They're all sold at Claire's, a store with products aimed toward girls and young women.“It's completely unacceptable to have asbestos in these products,” Katz says. “Asbestos if you inhale it or ingested it can lead to lung cancer it can lead to mesothelioma, which is cancer of the internal organs, and if you apply it over skin over time it can also increase the risk of skin cancer."Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that can be found in talc, a common product in many makeup products. But Katz says it's a company's responsibility to make sure the talc it uses hasn't been contaminated.“We need Claire's to remove these products from the shelves and we need them to figure out how asbestos got in their products to begin with,” Katz says. “We need Congress and the FDA to take action. We need to ban asbestos from beauty care products and makeup.”Right now, Katz and U.S. PIRG are urging us to avoid products with talc until federal laws change.It's not the first time Claire's has come under scrutiny for this. "And believe me, that totally got my attention."           Robertson decided to start weightlifting, and found the biggest battle wasn't with her body, but with her mind."I had lots of mind talk that said, 'You're too old you can't do this. But I just made up my mind to do my best," said Robertson.Robertson started slow."At first it's like, 'That's way too much I can't do that,'" said Robertson. Eventually, the weight she could lift began to rise, along with her confidence. She set a lofty goal: To compete in her region's Senior Olympics."I mentioned to Alyssa, 'Oh I've always wanted to do that,'" Robertson remembers. "And she said, 'You can.'"Mallett helped Robertson get ready and months later she was ready to compete."When I went to the Senior Olympics, I just said 'I don't care what kind of a fool I make out of myself I don't care anything about anything except I'm just going to do it,'" Robertson said.Robertson dead-lifted 10 pounds more than she had ever done before, and took home the gold."Oh I was I was so excited," said Robertson. "I was. I was excited and I was proud of myself. I was really proud."Sally's not only lifting, but walking in virtual 5Ks.  Each medal on her wall helps to change her self image."When I walk in there I look up and I go, 'I am a walker,'" said Robertson.Robertson says we can all make these changes, by taking the first step and going somewhere you feel comfortable."I wouldn't think of going in a gym with all the skinny people lifting weights in all their nice spandex clothes," said Robertson. "I just would not do that."And when the voices in your head tell you that you can't?"Tell those voices to shut up," Robertson said. Ticketmaster has issued a response regarding Billboard's report that concertgoers would have to verify that they've been vaccinated or tested negative for the virus before attending a live show.In an email to E.W. Scripps, Ticketmaster said there is no requirement coming from them about mandating vaccines or testing for future events.In the original report, Billboard reported that the ticket-selling company would set up a way for the customers' COVID test results to be sent to third-party health companies. And through its digital app, Ticketmaster would tie those test results or vaccination status to a ticket digitally that'd be used to enter events.Ticketmaster explained that it is up to the event organizers to set policies around safety and entry requirements."Ticketmaster does not have the power to set policies around safety/entry requirements, which would include vaccines and/or testing protocols, a spokesperson for Ticketmaster said. "That would be up to the discretion of the event organizer, based on their preferences and local health guidelines."The spokesperson explained that they are exploring the ability to enhance their existing digital ticket capabilities amid the pandemic."One path Ticketmaster is actively exploring and working to develop is a framework for syncing with third-party healthcare providers to link COVID vaccine status and/or test results to fans' digital tickets for event entry," the spokesperson said. "All aspects of vaccine verification/testing for the broad public would be set by regional health officials. Any health information would be stored with third-party health care providers with HIPPA compliance, not with Ticketmaster."In a statement, Ticketmaster President Mark Yovich added that the company's goal is to "provide enough flexibility and options that venues and fans have multiple paths to return to events.""We imagine there will be many third-party health care providers handling vetting - whether that is getting a vaccine, taking a test, or other methods of review and approval - which could then be linked via a digital ticket so everyone entering the event is verified," Yovich said.
