SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer met with leaders from the Marine Corps on Thursday to officially strengthen their partnership. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding between their organizations to work together on "Smart City" technologies such as unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), smart streetlights, renewable energy, and the City's "Get it Done" app. Last year the City of San Diego was selected for a pilot program by the U.S. Department of Transportation to advance the testing of UAS, more commonly referred to as drones. They're already being used by police and fire in Chula Vista. "We will share our experiences, we'll share as we discover uses for data together, and share how advanced technology can benefit the people that we both serve," said Mayor Faulconer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are investigating the discovery of a man's body in the water off Mission Beach.Lifeguards discovered the body about two and a half miles off the shoreline about 11 a.m., officials said. They had been drawn to the area by a fisherman who saw a flock of seagulls in the water and went to investigate.When they found the body, the man was only wearing only board shorts and was found with a chain around his waist.San Diego Police Homicide Lt. Anthony Dupree described the chain as a "half-inch linked chain. It almost looks like someone may wear it as a belt."Lt. Dupree also said there were no obvious signs of trauma or evidence that the body had been weighed down with anything, but the chain was concerning.The man's identity was not immediately released. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer Monday signed an executive order that will allow certain businesses and places of worship to operate outdoors.In light of California’s restrictions on indoor operations and activities, the executive order will permit businesses such as gyms, churches, barbershops and hair/nail salons to “expand their operations into private parking lots,” City of San Diego officials said.The order takes effect immediately, although Faulconer said the state will have to amend its regulations for salons and barbershops to operate outside.Faulconer said, “Right now, we need to give our small businesses every tool possible to get through this difficult time or they might shut down for good. By allowing more and more businesses to operate outdoors, we are delivering solutions to help San Diego’s small businesses get to the other side of this pandemic while putting thousands of San Diegans back to work safely and responsibly with proper physical distancing.”The San Diego City Council will vote on the newest executive order into a city ordinance at a later date.On July 13, Gov.
