VIENTIANE, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said here Wednesday that China is willing to work with the ASEAN countries in dispelling interference, and properly handling the South China Sea issue according to the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) and dual-track approach.
In the 480-page document, some 30 pages are devoted to irresponsible remarks on China's national defense and China's normal and legal maritime activities in the East and South China Seas.
Another reason for China declined to attend the arbitration proceedings is that, in 2002, a Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea was agreed, promoting bilateral negotiation among the disputing nations over sovereignty issues, and calling for the freedom of navigation in the South China Sea for all nations of the world in accordance to UNCLOS.
Yet due to the impacts of the world financial crisis as well as faltering global growth, China's foreign trade growth has started to lose momentum.
