WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — An 8-year-old has gone above and beyond this holiday season.Aiden Foster didn’t give up until a West Palm Beach woman found her cat which ran away weeks ago.The past 10 years Ashley Goldstein and her furry friend, Tobin, have been inseparable. But just days after they settled into a new home, Tobin disappeared.“I was desperate to find him. I put flyers up,”Goldstein said. She searched for several days which then turned into weeks, still no sign of Tobin.“Honestly I thought I was never going to see him again. I kinda gave up,” she said.At that moment, a glimmer of hope.Ashley received a phone call with the news that she’d been desperately waiting for.“It’s this little boy telling me that he thinks he saw my cat,” she explained. It was Foster, the neighborhood pet detective, who promised to help.“I saw him in the backyard he ran over the fence,” Foster said.Aiden kept his word and went above and beyond, using a little creativity in the process.“So I tried to go after him and I just couldn’t so I just put my cat food that was there, I put a trail all the way down there left a whole big pile over there ,” Foster said.60 days after his disappearance, Ashley received her Christmas miracle. She found Tobin less than a mile away from home where Aiden last saw him.“He not only made my Christmas, my holiday, but he brought my family back together,” She said.Ashley rewarded Aiden with 0.She also gave him an extra 0 that she raised for him through a fundraising site. This story originally reported by Kamrel Eppinger on WPTV.com. 1578

WASHINGTON, D.C. – What police reform proposals will get the endorsement of President Donald Trump and Senate Republicans? While House Democrats have already announced what legislation they are seeking, Republicans in the Senate, as well as the White House, have been more mum. That is expected to change this week.Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) is working with the White House on what ideas the president could support. Scott is the only African American senator in the Republican caucus.White House officials hinted the president would likely provide more guidance on what he supports and what he doesn't when he travels to Dallas, Texas, on Thursday.CNN reported Wednesday that the president is considering an executive order on police reform, which would not require Congress' approval.“We’re still wrestling with America’s original sin,” said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, referring to slavery, when he spoke with reporters Tuesday.“We try to get better but every now and then it’s perfectly clear we’re a long way from the finish line,” said McConnell. 1065
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Amid reports that the FDA is considering tougher standards for the authorization of a COVID-19 vaccine, President Donald Trump claimed Wednesday that the White House could override that decision. The Washington Post and CNN report that the FDA is expected to roll out the new standard for emergency authorization of a vaccine soon, which would make it exceedingly difficult for a vaccine to be cleared by Election Day.The FDA is expected to issue the guidance to increase transparency and public trust in the potential vaccine, The Post reports. The news comes as recent polls show Americans are increasingly skeptical about the vaccine process. As the president campaigns for reelection, he has repeatedly said he expects to have a coronavirus vaccine available to the public around Nov. 3 and that he would like to see one offered around that time.During a briefing on Wednesday, Trump warned that his administration might reject the FDA’s tougher standards.“We're looking at that and that has to be approved by the White House,” Trump told reporters. “We may or may not approve it. That sounds like a political move.”An FDA official confirmed to CNN that these types of guideline changes do go through the White House’s Office Management and Budget for review. At least one member of the White House's coronavirus task force says he's willing to be vaccinated."If a vaccine, there's shown to be and proven to be and authorized by the FDA to be safe and effective, I certainly would take that vaccine and I would recommend to my family that they take that vaccine," said Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.Trump says he has faith in the research underway and says the sooner a vaccine is available, the better."When they come back and they say that we have something that works and absolutely works and they're coming back with these great numbers and statistics and tests and everything that they have to come back with, I don't see any reason why it should be delayed any further," said Trump. The director of the National Institutes of Health reports that two more COVID-19 vaccines will likely soon enter phase three trials.CNN contributed to this report. 2238
