(KGTV) — Tourists tossing coins into Walt Disney World's fountains this year went toward fulfilling the wishes of hundreds of homeless individuals in Florida.The theme park donated ,000 in wishing well coins found in the park's fountains to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The coins went toward making the coalition's meal for the coalition's nearly 650 residents.The group provides housing, emergency services, and diversion for local homeless men, women, and children in Central Florida."Every year, thousands of guests toss coins into fountains at our Resort and make a wish, and this year the funds collected from those fountains are being given to the Coalition to help make their annual Thanksgiving meal service possible," according to Tajiana Ancora-Brown, director of external affairs at Walt Disney World Resort.According to the Associated Press, the feast required seven kitchens, 250 pounds of turkey, 60 gallons of gravy and cranberry compote, 300 pounds of cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and green beans, 800 dinner rolls, and 72 apple and pumpkin pies.Walt Disney World also donated hundreds of to-go containers for the meal. 1175

(KGTV) -- The massive fire at the famous Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is hitting a San Diego school especially hard. Children at the Notre Dame Academy in Carmel Valley recently visited the sacred site during a school trip. Francesca Pinney, who is in 8th grade, said stepping inside such a holy place is something she will never forget."I remember it being an incredibly majestic and beautiful cathedral and it was incredibly inspiring to my Catholic faith being able to see this in person," said Francesca. The mood at the school on Monday afternoon was one of sadness and shock. "During Holy Week, the fact that the cathedral is burning down is just truly awful. It's so tragic," said Francesca, who visited Paris last year. Other classmates visited the famous attraction in just the last few weeks. Clare Deloux, a 7th grader, is one of them. She was stunned to learn about the massive fire that captured headlines around the world. "I was in shock. I didn't expect this to happen. It's very sad that this is amazing and that history was made even building that, " said Clare. The loss is also personal to their teacher. Marielle Hacher is from Paris. "It's a symbol of France and Catholic France for all the Catholic. It's very sad to see that it is burning, and hopefully, they gonna restore it," said Hacher.The students have already decided to use their next service project to raise money to help with the restoration; meanwhile, they will continue to pray for the people of France. (KGTV) — The Holy Fire raged through brushy, drylands between Orange and Riverside Counties for the fifth day, as more than 20,000 remained evacuated.The fire has scorched 22,158 acres since Monday after it ignited in the Trabuco Canyon area of Cleveland National Forest. But there were those who beat the crowds by getting their shopping done under the full moon.  "We started at like 8:30 [last night]," said one woman shopping with her sister at 4:30 a.m. at the Carlsbad Outlets. The mall had opened their Black Friday event at 6 p.m. Thursday with no closing time until 10 p.m. Friday. That meant those willing to shop all night, had free reign to scour the deals with a lot less competition.  "I think the only reason we're here at this time, said the woman, "is because there's no lines. And we can leave our kids at home. They're sleeping while we can shop."  Of course, an all night shopping event doesn't happen without workers.   "I started last night at 5pm." Said the manager of Joe's Jeans as the clock neared 5:30am.  Asked how she was holding up, she replied, "I'm doing good. I'm off in a little bit."  "Have a great day you guys."
