President Donald Trump on Tuesday again seized on what he called a "terrorist attack" in London to call for tougher anti-terror measures, even though the incident was still in the early stages of investigation."Another terrorist attack in London...These animals are crazy and must be dealt with through toughness and strength!," the US President tweeted.Metropolitan Police in London were investigating the event -- in which a car crashed into security barriers outside of the Houses of Parliament during rush hour Tuesday morning -- as a terrorist incident. The driver, a man in his late 20's, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of terrorist offenses. He was alone in the car and no weapons were recovered at the scene. 732

President Donald Trump lambasted "Chuck and Nancy" and told supporters in Tennessee at a rally on Tuesday that Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen would do the bidding of Democratic congressional leaders.Trump was in Nashville to campaign for Bredesen's Republican opponent, Rep. Marsha Blackburn, in the race to replace the retiring Sen. Bob Corker."I never heard of this guy, who is he? Who is he?" Trump said of Bredesen. "He's an absolute, total tool of Chuck -- of Chuck Schumer. He's a tool of Chuck Schumer and of course the MS-13 lover Nancy Pelosi."Bredesen is, in fact, a popular former Nashville mayor and Tennessee governor, but he last ran for public office in 2006. When Trump introduced Corker at the rally, he was met with audible boos from the audience.Corker had been a thorn in Republicans' side in the race to replace him, calling Bredesen a friend and only offering a tepid endorsement of Blackburn.For Trump, the trip to Tennessee comes as part of a ramped-up midterm travel schedule. President Donald Trump reiterated his willingness Monday to allow the government to shut down this fall if he does not receive sufficient funding for border security but he declined to take a firm stance on the specific amount of money he would accept."If we don't get border security after many, many years of talk within the United States, I would have no problem doing a shutdown," Trump said during a joint news conference at the White House alongside Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. "It's time we have proper border security. We're the laughingstock of the world. President Donald Trump on Wednesday fired Attorney General Jeff Sessions."At your request I am submitting my resignation," Sessions wrote in a letter to White House chief of staff John Kelly.Matthew Whitaker will take over as acting attorney general, the President said.Whitaker is expected to take charge of the the Russia investigation and special counsel Robert Mueller from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein."We are pleased to announce that Matthew G. Whitaker, Chief of Staff to Attorney General Jeff Sessions at the Department of Justice, will become our new Acting Attorney General of the United States. A permanent replacement will be nominated at a later date," Trump tweeted.The move is an abrupt end to what had been a tumultuous tenure for Sessions, originally one of Trump's earliest and most loyal surrogates as an Alabama Republican senator. He was a key figure in implementing Trump's vision for America and significantly rolled back Obama-era policies on immigration, police reform and civil rights.Sessions was an enforcer of much of the Trump administration's hardline approach on immigration and regularly praised the President's tough words on crime. But even as he continued to carry out the Trump agenda, his relationship with the President remained strained and fraught for months due to the ongoing Mueller investigation.Sessions received the request to resign from Kelly, not the President, on Wednesday morning, an administration official said.
