SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for a suspect who they say tried to sexually assault a woman before stealing her car.According to police, the incident happened on the 1700 block of India Street at 4:33 a.m. Sunday.Police say the man walked into Cafe Italia while the victim was cleaning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego grocery store employees rallied Friday due to ongoing negotiations with Kroger affecting some 50,000 workers at Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons in Southern California. “Workers have been without a contract since March, and after 26 failed negotiation sessions are demanding action,” said Todd Walters, President of UFCW Local 135.Some 200 workers were joined at Friday’s rally in Mission Hills by the Teamsters Joint Council 42, who agreed to stop all grocery product deliveries in the event of a strike, union leaders reported.“The negotiations process can take time to reach reasonable solutions that are best for our associates, our communities and our company,” said a spokesperson from Ralphs.The grocery store agreed to meet with the unions from Aug. 22 - 25 to continue negotiations. 823

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – Restrictions in California due to the COVID-19 pandemic have forced many youth sports teams around San Diego County to head to other states to play games.Under current pandemic-related guidelines, youth sports teams in California have been limited to practices only. The restrictions have been frustrating for many parents and coaches.Anthony Lococo, a coach for San Diego travel baseball organization King Kong Baseball, said, "At this point, we thought we would be in a position where there would be a plan in place to get us back to playing. If I told you five or six months ago that we'd have to travel to play, I would have told you no way. I thought we would have had a plan in place by now."Rene Miramontes, director of coaching for local-based Crusaders Soccer, feels traveling to play in other states was bound to happen."In youth sports in particular, with no recourse, you have to start looking for options,” Miramontes said.Those options include heading east to places like Yuma, Arizona. In fact, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported about a recent baseball tournament in Yuma which featured 51 teams. Of those teams, 49 were from California."I gave it a couple months, with the plan that if we weren't open by October or November, we would have to look into going to other states," said Lococo.Since pandemic regulations went into effect in March, many youth tournaments in San Diego have been canceled, costing the city a lot of money. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police officials have announced the arrest of two suspects in the murder of a security guard who was gunned down outside of an East Village homeless shelter last month.In a release sent Tuesday night, San Diego Police Department Acting Capt. Martha Sainz said homicide investigators were led to two suspects in the case through witness accounts and collected video footage from the area including from Smart Streetlights.The high-quality images obtained from the Smart Streetlights allowed investigators to identify 47-year-old Floyd Garrett and 40-year-old Johnny Hill as the suspects, according to Sainz."On January 4, 2020, investigators tracked Garrett to Phoenix, Arizona where he was arrested with the assistance of the Phoenix Police Department. Garrett will remain in custody in Phoenix, pending extradition hearings," said Sainz.Hill was located in San Diego and arrested by San Diego Police officers Tuesday without incident. He was booked into county jail for the murder.Both men are from San Diego, according to Sainz.Ernest Lee Buchanan, 44, was killed on Dec. 28 outside the Alpha Project shelter on Imperial Avenue.
