As part of the fraud scheme, he directed another person to submit a mortgage application to Wells Fargo to buy a .8 million five-bedroom home, officials say, and falsely claim that the fund used as a down payment belonged to a third party and the third party would be the primary homeowner.In reality, Daughtrey provided the funds and the house was intended to be his primary residence. He later submitted a false hardship letter on behalf of the third party to get the bank to modify the terms of the home loan, officials added.He also admitted that over several years, he and his spouse, who is not charged in the case, conspired to falsely report total income in tax years 2012 through 2015. Officials say in 2012, Daughtrey omitted at least 8,612 in income and the IRA tax loss for years 2012-2014 was 6,536. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A man running in and out of traffic while naked in Little Italy died after being taken into police custody Friday.Witnesses say the man was yelling for help in the area of 600 W. Grape Street at about 11 p.m. When the first San Diego Police officer responded, he was able to place handcuffs on the man.As the officer led the man out of traffic, though, witnesses told police the man began to struggle and was taken to the ground by the officer. The man's death was ruled as an in-custody death.During the struggle, the man suffered a cut to the head. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A North Park gym owner who defied the governor's health order and moved workouts indoors was served with a violation notice from the county, threatening ,000 daily fines. Owner Frank Kole initially complied with last month's order and moved everything outdoors, but after five days made the decision to go back inside. That's because he says the sidewalks outside his gym were littered with feces, blood stains, and trash. Kole instead instituted strict rules indoors, requiring masks and social distancing. But the county, while acknowledging the tough reality outside, still served him with the violation, saying it was the law. Immediately, he and his staff discovered a syringe on the sidewalk as they were setting up equipment. "If we weren't out there cleaning that sidewalk up everyday, that needle would still be there," Kole said. A spokeswoman for the city of San Diego says environmental crews will pick up syringes with biohazard boxes when they encounter them. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A person fell at least 14 feet down an elevator shaft at a downtown property Tuesday.The person was reportedly working at the property at 625 Broadway when the fall occurred.San Diego Fire Department's Urban Search and Rescue team responded, hoisting the worker out and transporting the person to a nearby hospital.The worker had injuries to their leg but they were conscious and believed to be okay.No further information was immediately available. 476
