COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Authorities say the number of passengers on a Norwegian cruise ship who have tested positive for the coronavirus has reached 43.The outbreak on the MS Roald Amundsen has raised new questions about safety on cruise ships during the pandemic even as the industry is pressing to resume sailings after shutting down in March.The ship’s owner, Hurtigruten, has halted all trips and Norway closed its ports to cruise ships for two weeks.Since the cruise line often acts like a local ferry, traveling from port to port along Norway’s west coast, some passengers may have spread the virus to local communities. 637

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — More than 150 students at Colorado College are being quarantined for the next two weeks after one tested positive for the COVID-19 over the weekend.“At first I was like, shocked, but after a little while it sunk in like, 'Wow, that’s 14 days in one room,'” said Colorado College freshman Andrew Kaelin.Kaelin and Oliver Kendall only met Saturday. On Sunday, these roommates found out they will be spending nearly every minute of the next two weeks with each other. Students are allowed to only leave the room for laundry, bathroom and water. Food for the day is delivered to the room.“It’s a good way to get to know someone,” Kendall said.Before moving in, all students were required to take a COVID-19 test and were asked to isolate in their dorm rooms until the results came back.Brian Young, with Colorado College, said the student who tested positive went into the hallway of the dorm rather than staying in the room.“Immediately, as we isolated, the individual did our contact trace, realized, unfortunately, (that they) didn’t follow the guidelines we were after,” Young said.Neither Young or the El Paso County Health Department could say exactly how many came in contact with the student. Whatever the number was, it was enough to lock down Loomis Hall and the 155 first-year students living there.“All of our students are doing fine. No one is symptomatic,” Young told KMGH.Young said anyone showing even one symptom will be tested immediately. Colorado College is also providing students the ability to speak to a mental health expert as needed. Congratulations 747, the “fat and fabulous” winner of Bear Week 2020 at Katmai National Park.Number 747 was up against bear number 32, nicknamed “Chunk,” in the final head-to-head match-up of the just-for-fun tournament.Bear 747 was first identified and tagged by the park in 2004 and, according to Katmai officials, he has grown to be one of the largest bears in the preserve.“When asked what he intends to do now that he has won, the only response was a look before going back to fishing in the Jacuzzi near the Brooks Falls, one of his favorite fishing spots,” park officials said in a press release about the winner.The annual match-up features images of brown bears from around Katmai National Park showing how they have bulked up over the spring and fall ahead of winter hibernation. CORONADO (KGTV) - An Arizona man is recovering from a bacterial infection he says he got from swimming in the ocean off the coast of San Diego.Travis Moncur had part of his forearm removed last week after doctors discovered he had gram positive cocci.The Arizona based event coordinator says he went swimming Sunday near the Hotel Del Coronado and by Wednesday he was in an emergency room.RELATED: Tijuana steps up efforts to keep sewage out of U.S.“For the first 24 hours they didn’t know what it was because it was acting like a bug bite,” said Moncur.Travis says he had a fever, was nauseous and the area where he had a small cut was painfully sensitive to the touch.“It was pretty dire,” said Moncur, “they said had I not gotten on top of it right away it would have got into my blood system and I could have gotten an infection in my brain.”Moncur says doctors told him the variety of coliform bacterial infection they believe he is consistent with dirty water.RELATED: Imperial Beach businesses hurt by sewage & runoff related closuresThe San Diego County Health Department says there no advisories for any of the areas where Moncur was swimming and they recommend covering any cut before going in the water.Moncur’s doctor will get back results to help them potentially determine the source, but he is still worried about the possibility of others getting what he has. “We were playing on the beach with people who had children” said Moncur, “I was able to catch it because I went to the ER right away.” 1528
