Question-and-answer website Quora warned late Monday that hackers gained access to the personal data of as many as 100 million of its users.Quora discovered on Friday that one of its systems had been hacked by "a malicious third party," CEO Adam D'Angelo said in a blog post.The compromised information includes users' names, email addresses and encrypted passwords as well as data from social networks like Facebook (FB) and Twitter (TWTR) if people chose to link them to their Quora accounts.The hackers also obtained details about users' activity on Quora, such as questions, answers, upvotes and downvotes. But anonymously written questions and answers were not affected by the breach."The overwhelming majority of the content accessed was already public on Quora, but the compromise of account and other private information is serious," D'Angelo said.The site is now notifying affected users and logging them out."We believe we've identified the root cause and taken steps to address the issue, although our investigation is ongoing and we'll continue to make security improvements," D'Angelo said.Quora bills itself as "a place where you can ask questions you care about and get answers that are amazing."People can post a question to the platform like "What are some amazing facts about Apple, the company?" or "What is the ultimate sandwich?" — and see what answers other users come up with.The site's data breach is the latest in a series of high-profile hacks. 1493

Rep. Louise M. Slaughter, the first female chair of the House Rules Committee and one of the longest-serving Democrats in Congress, died Friday at age 88, her office announced.The dean of the New York congressional delegation had fallen near her D.C. home last week, suffered an injury, and had been hospitalized at George Washington University Hospital.A major fixture in Democratic politics, she was serving her 16th term in Congress.House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said Friday in a statement that she was "heartbroken by the passing of the congresswoman.""In her lifetime of public service and unwavering commitment to working families, Congresswoman Slaughter embodied the very best of the American spirit and ideals. Rattled by a string of explosions, which has put the city on edge for the last two weeks, a possible new explosion was reported Tuesday evening near a Goodwill store, the Austin Police Department said on its Twitter account. But after an hour of investigating, the police department said the explosion stemmed from an an incendiary device. The department said the incident was likely not connected to a previous string of explosions. One male said to be in his 30s was transported to the hospital. Their condition is serious, but the injuries are not expected to be life threatening. Tuesday incident comes just hours after a package detonated at a FedEx package handling facility in Texas.The package's intended destination is unknown.  770
