ANAHEIM (CNS) - Thousands of Disneyland enthusiasts lined up early Friday to experience the theme park's newest Star Wars Land ride.Bobby Navarro of Garden Grove said he got up at 4 a.m. with his friends and got into the park by 5:30 a.m.Navarro experienced Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance when it debuted at Disney World on Dec. 5, so he had some practice in using the company's application to sign up for a pass to the attraction. Navarro said it was key to get everyone in the group connected on the app and requesting a pass simultaneously, but that also meant he had to de-select others who were not at the park with his group.RIDE REVIEW & VIDEO: 'Rise of the Resistance' fulfills missing 'Star Wars' feel at Galaxy's Edge"The queue for the digital app started at 6 o'clock... and we still had to wait hours before the app opened," Navarro said. "And then, it was whoever is able to push the button fastest."Navarro and his group were assigned to boarding group 84, and he was advised the park may only be able to handle 82 boarding groups on Friday, but he was hopeful his group will get a chance to see the Anaheim version of the ride."The first day in Florida, they got up to boarding group 125," Navarro said."We're close to group 50 now," he said about 1 p.m.Navarro said even the wait in line for the ride in Florida helped guests feel immersed in the experience. The attraction included a hologram explaining the "context and storyline," he said.RELATED: California Adventure's 'Avengers Campus' set for summer 2020 openingCast members help guide guests through the line until the fun begins with an abduction and imprisonment by stormtroopers, he said. One of the more impressive attractions is a glass panel that makes participants feel as if they are looking into outer space, he said.As the "prisoners" are being told they will be "eliminated," resistance fighters break through with lightsabers to help lead an escape, Navarro said."They tell you, `Hurry up, get out,"' Navarro said.RELATED: Disneyland tickets are on sale for as low as right nowThe guests make their escape on a pod, he said."The mag-lev system is what really makes the ride," he said of the battleship in the attraction. "This really feels like a battleship.""They really did a great job of transporting you to a different place," he said. The ride takes about 20 minutes, he said.Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer said the city has not experienced any issues with traffic in the area despite also hosting the National Association of Music Merchants convention."I haven't heard of any problems," he said. "These large events, although extraordinary for Anaheim, are definitely not out of our comfort zone to handle these pretty regularly. And Disney has ingress and egress down to a science."Carringer said he got to experience the new attraction last night."It was cool," he said. "My wife enjoyed it too." 2912

ANAHEIM, Calif. (KGTV) - A man arrested in Orange County Wednesday had allegedly tried to pay to have sex with a 4-year-old, officials said.Nicolas Ryan Castillo, 29, was arrested near a home he was staying at on the Woodley Avenue in Anaheim, according to ABC affiliate KABC.FBI officials and Santa Ana police reportedly served search warrants at two homes, one of which was across the street from an elementary school. KABC reported Castillo was the subject of a monthlong investigation by police after officials received a tip.A detective posed as the mother of a 4-year-old and investigators said Castillo wanted to speak to the undercover detective about paying for sex with the child.Detectives collected evidence Wednesday and told KABC there may be evidence of child pornography and potentially other victims."We're talking about a 4-year-old child," Santa Ana police Corporal Anthony Bertagna told KABC. "That's about as disturbing as you can get." 975

As images spread of children gasping and convulsing, aid groups and international leaders are denouncing the Syrian regime for their alleged role in a suspected chemical attack.More than 70 people were reportedly killed Saturday in Douma, the last rebel-held town in Eastern Ghouta, the?International Rescue Committee said Sunday."The evidence points toward yet another chemical attack by the regime," said Maja Kocijancic, spokeswoman for European Union Foreign Affairs and Security Policy."Almost a year to the day of the horrific attacks in Khan Sheikhoun, it is a matter of grave concern that chemical weapons continue to be used, especially on civilians."The International Rescue Committee said the latest incident "only serves to further demonstrate that the government of Syria will stop at nothing to win this war."But the Syrian government and its key ally, Russia, vehemently denied involvement in Saturday's attack. Instead, they accused rebels in Douma of fabricating the chemical assault claims in order to hinder the army's advances and provoke international military intervention.Russia's Foreign Ministry called the reported attack a "hoax" that interfered with a deal to end fighting in Douma and evacuate civilians. Dozens of buses entered Douma on Sunday evening to take detainees released by Jaish al-Islam, the last remaining rebel group in Douma, to government-held territory, according to Syrian state TV. The vehicles will also transport rebels and civilians to northern Syria, state TV said.Iran, another ally, also defended the Syrian regime."The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the use of such (chemical) weapons by any party and anywhere in the world," Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi told the state-run Islamic Republic News agency. He said the allegation that the Syrian regime is behind the attack "is not compatible with reality."But anti-government activists claimed Syrian military helicopters dropped barrel bombs filled with chemicals on the town, suffocating some residents and sending others into violent convulsions.Graphic footage shot by rescuers and activists show victims -- including children -- dead and injured, some ghostly white and foaming at the mouth in makeshift clinics. Others were found suffocated in their homes, according to first responders. At least 48 people died and 500 others displayed symptoms similar to exposure to "toxic gas" in the Douma area, the White Helmets rescue group and the Syrian American Medical Society charity group said in a joint statement.Other groups have announced varying death tolls in the wake of the attack. CNN could not independently verify the authenticity of the footage or the reports.US President Donald Trump described the attack as "SICK" and criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran for supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He threatened that there would be a "big price to pay" for the attacks.Saturday's attack occurred almost a year to the day after the United States struck a Syrian airfield in response to a chemical attack on the rebel-held town of Khan Sheikhoun. The State Department described the incident in Douma as "horrifying" and said that if the use of chemical agents in the attack was confirmed, it would "demand an immediate response by the international community."The US, United Kingdom, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Kuwait, Peru and Cote d'Ivoire will participate Monday in an emergency UN Security Council meeting, the US mission to the United Nations said."The Security Council has to come together and demand immediate access for first responders, support an independent investigation into what happened, and hold accountable those responsible for this atrocious act," US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said in a statement.Following the attack on Saturday night, doctors in Eastern Ghouta saw patients shaking uncontrollably and some who appeared to be paralyzed and unresponsive, an official from the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organizations (UOSSM) told CNN.The official, who asked to be identified as Dr. Jad, is in touch with local doctors and said one of the affected areas was the residential area of Masaken, where hundreds of civilians reside in underground shelters. 4305

As Democrats remain nervous over the status of the Senate and White House, Democrats will likely retain the House. This comes despite losing some ground so far in the House. As of 3:30 a.m. ET, Democrats have flipped two seats in their favor, while Republicans have flipped six, resulting in a net gain for the GOP of four. Democrats can afford to lose 14 seats and retain a majority in the House. All six seats Republicans flipped on Tuesday were ones that Democrats flipped in 2018. The two seats gained by Democrats both came in North Carolina. Deborah Ross took the state’s second congressional district, while Kathy Manning won the state’s sixth congressional district. Both seats were open as the two GOP incumbents were not in the general election. The Republicans gained a seat in Florida’s 26th district as Carlos Gimenez upended incumbent Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. Mucarsel-Powell was only a one-term member of Congress as she herself defeated an incumbent GOP representative. The Florida 27th was also a turnover for Republicans, as Maria Elvira Salazar defeated Rep. Donna Shalala, who was a freshman first elected in 2018. In South Carolina, Nancy Mace narrowly defeated Rep. Joe Cunningham. In Minnesota, Michelle Fischbach defeated Rep. Collin Peterson by what appears to be a sizable margin. Stephanie Bice won a narrow race over Rep. Kendra Horn in Oklahoma. Yvette Herrell has defeated Rep. Xochitl Torres Small in New Mexico. 1454
