Thieves stole priceless royal artifacts in a daring raid on a Swedish cathedral before escaping by speedboat, police said. The thieves made off with crown jewels belonging to former Swedish monarchs Karl IX and Kristina from the Str?ngn?s Cathedral to the west of the capital, Stockholm, on Tuesday. Two crowns and a golden orb adorned with a crucifix were taken from the cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century, according to a police report. The items date from the early 17th century.A witness told Swedish media that he was eating lunch when he saw two people running toward a boat, which they sped away in.Police said several thieves were involved in the heist. They fled in an open-topped motorboat across the sea from the base of the church. Several police patrol boats as well as police helicopters joined a hunt for the perpetrators. The cathedral was placed on lockdown, CNN affiliate Expressen reported, and the search for the thieves continued on Wednesday."To a limited extent we are still looking for (them) both on the ground and at sea. We have no new findings so far," said Tor Sevelius, commanding officer at the police's management center.Police are investigating "any boat that may seem interesting," as the thieves may have switched to another craft, police spokesman Thomas Agnevik told Expressen. The three items stolen were part of the funeral regalia of the king and queen, and would have been buried with the monarchs, Christofer Lundgren, dean of the Str?ngn?s parish, told Expressen. They were later taken from the burial site and displayed to the public, he added. He said that while the items have monetary value, it pales in comparison to their significance to Sweden's cultural history."From our point of view, the material value is less important than the cultural history of these items. I do not see this as a theft from Str?ngn?s cathedral assembly. This is part of the national cultural heritage, this is a theft of Swedish society," Lundgren said.Police said they could not comment on the value of the items stolen. The cathedral was open to the public from 10 a.m., and the theft took place just before lunchtime. No one was injured or threatened during the robbery, Lundgren said. The heist has echoes of a daring robbery in Venice in January, when thieves mingled with other visitors to an exhibition before brazenly making off with gems from the Qatari royal collection. In that robbery, at least two people entered the Doge's Palace -- a popular tourist spot in Venice where a selection of Indian jewelry from the Qatari collection was on display to the public. One suspect acted as lookout while the other grabbed the jewels from a display case. 2696

TIJUANA, Mexico. (KGTV) -- Migrants in Tijuana took shelter from the rain Thursday beneath tarps and in tents as shelters remained overcrowded. Photos taken by 10News show makeshift camps where migrants hid in tents while others shielded themselves with tarps as rain drenched the area. Many of the migrants waiting to claim asylum say they’ve lost hope following a clash Sunday in which hundreds of migrants rushed the border in a show of force. PHOTOS: Migrants in Tijuana take shelter from the rainMeanwhile, Mexico’s President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s government signaled earlier this week that it may be willing to house migrants while they apply for U.S. citizenship. Mexico’s new foreign minister is also putting pressure on the Trump administration to contribute to development projects that would help create jobs in Central America. There’s a new trend online, and it’s making people money. But shoppers don’t even know what they’re purchasing. They’re called “Mystery Boxes” and the products are popular on sites like Etsy and eBay."We order stuff on Amazon all the time, but we know what we're getting, says Aurelia Seward, a seller on Etsy.“How much funner would it be to get a box and not know what’s inside of it?”  Seward sells all-natural holistic items and has been curating mystery boxes for about a month."My mystery boxes can be any array of items to handcrafted jewelry to real gem stones for healing,” she explains. “Lava stone bracelets for diffuser oils, essential oils, stuff like that."  Buyers can choose from all sorts of themed boxes, including electronics, toys, beauty products, etc.Seward’s boxes sell for .   "I haven't been doing too much marketing for them, but the orders are rolling in, so that's kind of fun. Some boxes can go for 0, but Seward cautions buyers to watch out for the more expensive ones."I've seen some that are really big duds,” she says. “Like, they have gotten dirty clothes.”Buyers should also check the seller’s reviews before purchasing a mystery box. 1200

This is typically one of the most exciting times of the year, with high school football getting close to kicking off the season.Unfortunately, COVID-19 sidelined football and a bunch of other sports."It's a concern," says Caledonia, Michigan, clinical psychologist Dr. Nicole Beurkens, "because surveys throughout this pandemic have shown that student-athletes, in particular, are showing rates of anxiety and depression that are steadily increasing and rates of physical activity that are decreasing."It's a combination that Dr. Beurkens says can cause some serious problems."People often underestimate how connected those two things are," she says, "But the research shows us over and over again that getting some form of physical movement, physical activity, or exercise in on a daily basis is critical for supporting our mental health, and that's especially true for children and for teens."So, with many sports in a timeout, Dr. Beurkens says parents should be looking for signs of mental health issues."I think that if parents start to notice that their child is withdrawing more and more, not participating in things that they used to participate in, withdrawing more from the family, getting a lot more irritable, maybe feeling more anxious about things, expressing more hesitation to do things that they were comfortable doing, those are signs that anxiety or depression may be an issue."She says keeping your kids active during this time is invaluable."For kids still to be involved in physical activities around weight training practice, many of the schools are working on how to safely have kids together to continue to participate in drill training, in working on things that they work during the season, even though they won't be competing. That's a great way to provide not only structure but also those relational kinds of opportunities."And above all else, Dr. Beurkens says, keep talking."Open communication is one of the things that really helps kids to work through this types of challenging situations. So, talking with them about how they're feeling, about the disappointment, about the anger, or maybe frustration they may be feeling, and give them a healthy outlet about communicating about that, is important."To contact Dr. Nicole Beurkens click here. This story was first reported by Mike Avery at WXMI in West Michigan. 2354

Thursday was supposed to mark the second of three presidential debates between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.Instead, Trump and Biden will hold town hall forums on opposite networks in a hope to sway voters to the polls by November 3. The town hall forums will air Thursday evening at 8 p.m.How we got hereIn the two weeks since the last debate, Trump tested positive for the coronavirus as dozens of others who had contact with Trump around the time of the debate also tested positive for the virus. Also, revelations surfaced that Trump’s travel party did not follow the debate’s coronavirus guidelines at the Sept. 30 meeting in Cleveland. As a result, the Commission on President Debates announced last week the debate scheduled for Oct. 15 would be held virtually. Wanting no part of a virtual debate, Trump immediately retracted his participation in the debate, and instead his campaign said it would hold a rally.Meanwhile, Biden said he’d opt to hold a televised town hall forum on Thursday. On Wednesday, NBC News announced that Trump had agreed to participate in a town hall at the same time.When/where to watchBiden’s town hall will begin at 8 p.m. ET live in all time zones. The town hall will air live on ABC, ABC News Live on streaming platforms, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos will moderate.Trump’s town hall will also begin at 8 p.m. ET live in all time zones. The town hall will air live on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC, stream on NBC News NOW and be available in Spanish on Telemundo’s digital platforms. NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie will moderate.Biden’s town hall is slated to last 90 minutes, while Trump’s will go 60 minutes.NBC News took criticism from some on social media for opting to hold the town hall at the same time as Biden’s event. The concurrent town halls will leave swing viewers having to pick one of the candidates to watch. Stephanopoulos hosted a town hall with Trump and voters last month, while Biden did a town hall with NBC News’ Lester Holt a week ago.FormatUnlike debates, town hall forum responses have no time limit, which allows for deeper discussions on topics. Based on recent town hall forums, the coronavirus and the economic fallout will likely be key topics. Also of note is that Trump has largely avoided taking questions from reporters since being diagnosed with the coronavirus. It would not be surprising to see direct questions posed to Trump on holding large events without masks amid a pandemic. 2486
