LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A large ``Trump'' sign erected overnight on a hillside near the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass was taken down by authorities today.The sign -- consisting of white capital letters similar to the `Hollywood'' sign -- was taken down by Caltrans workers by about 9 a.m.It was not known who put the sign in place. Neither the Los Angeles Police Department nor the California Highway Patrol had any information about the sign when reached by City News Service. Freeway traffic was not affected. Lauren Wonder, chief public information officer for Caltrans, told the Los Angeles Times that the sign was on private property.For that reason, Wonder said, Caltrans workers ``laid it down so it wasn't a visual distraction'' but did not completely remove the sign, which was noticed at about 7 a.m.``This was a life and safety issue because there were concerns about distracted driving,'' Wonder said. 933

A Metro police officer recorded the video on the Purple Line's Normandie/Wilshire Metro stop Tuesday evening, KABC reported. (CNS) - The California State University system Tuesday extended its fall 2021 application deadline to Dec. 15 to accommodate students coping with the coronavirus pandemic.The application deadline was originally this Friday.Applications for any of the CSU campuses can be submitted online at www2.calstate.edu/apply.Prospective students were also encouraged to explore CSU financial aid options after applying, with officials noting that 80% of all CSU students receive some form of financial aid.The University of California system on Monday extended its application period, not because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but due to a problem with the online application portal. A Grinch is tip-toeing around outside windows of unsuspecting children, to bring delight and a moment of joy this holiday season.In a neighborhood full of Christmas cheer, the Grinch was ready to strike with fear. He didn’t exactly attempt to hide as the children sat inside.Dressed from head-to-toe as the Grinch, Ethan Hecker, 14, banged on the window of a home and was met with laughter and joy, but little did they know, he was there to steal their Christmas cheer.“My goal is to scare the kiddos, let them have some fun,” Hecker said.Allison Hecker, Ethan’s mom, came across a post online of a girl dressed up as the Grinch scaring kids and moving things around in the yard. Ethan says as soon as he saw it, he knew he wanted to do it himself and begged his mom for the costume.“Ethan loves the theatrics and kids and it was perfect,” she said.Hecker ordered the costume and it arrived on Monday. That same day, they posted on social media.“He is asking per visit--he will spend 5-7 minutes creeping around the outside of your home while your kids scream with excitement (or fear),” the Facebook post read.Hecker says they were flooded with requests for the Grinch to stop at homes and birthdays.“We’ve had 10 (bookings), so far and he has about 50-55 booked,” she said.The money Ethan raises will go into savings and help him buy a car.
