As the number of lung illness cases involving people who vape continues to grow, one city is telling people to stop using immediately.Now, vaping company Juul says it’s making it harder for younger people to buy their e-cigarettes.Sixteen people were hospitalized in Wisconsin with chemical pneumonia that doctors believe was caused by vaping. There have been 200 cases across the country.Despite the FDA declaring teen vaping as an epidemic, the Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association (CASAA) says vaping is still a better option than smoking."Flavorings and the base ingredients in e-liquid products made with nicotine are all alcohol base; those products don't cause this lipoid pneumonia,” says Alex Clark with CASAA.However, Clark says the problem causing these lung issues comes from users buying THC-filled cartridges from underground dealers.CASAA believes the black market manufacturers could be putting dangerous chemicals into illegal vaping products.This week, Juul’s CEO Kevin Burns told CBS This Morning these health reports are worrisome.The company announced it’s working with e-cigarette vendors to implement an ID verification system that prohibits cashiers from selling to underage shoppers and limits the amount customers can buy.Clark says he’s concerned more restriction on vaping products could lead to bigger problems. He things regulations could lead to underground market sales.Health departments and hospitals are continuing their research on legal vaping products to see if there is a link to lung-related issues.Meanwhile, Clark advises users to "purchase from legitimate retailers that you know and trust. ATLANTA, Ga. – Frank Reiss has a deep love for books. "I think they're beautiful," he said. "I love looking at them I love holding them."The success of the titles, authors and tales on the shelves of his Atlanta shop are a big part of the twists and turns in the story of his small business.He opened A Capella Books in 1989. In the beginning, he focused on books that were hard to find."Used books, ordinary used books, scarce and rare books," Reiss said. Then, people started to turn to the internet for books. "When Amazon showed up, books came pretty available, anyone with a computer could find a book anywhere and it got more and more that way," Reiss said. "A lot of our inventory that used to be scarce, out of print, to to even 0 books became pretty common," Reiss said. "Became and books and it became difficult to make a living selling those."Reiss says his expenses continued to rise while his sales didn't. To keep his business and his job alive, he had to climb into a hole. He says he started putting expenses on credit cards. He says 15 years ago, the debt was at its worst."I probably got to about a quarter million dollars in debt," he said. The plot twist that changed his store was figuring out what to offer the internet couldn't. "We could really capture an audience for books when you could bring the authors to town or store or other venues in town and give their fans the opportunity to meet them and get their books signed," Reiss said. Reiss started to work with the Carter Presidential Library, not far from A Capella, to hold book signings and events. He also started to sell newer books and moved his business to a cheaper location. "Sales versus our low point versus now is probably six times the revenue that we had at its low point," Reiss said.He also says an independent bookstore has a human element the internet does not. "We know our customers reading taste, they know our taste, we have conversations and its a very real experience," Reiss said.Independent book sales rose steadily at the end of last decade, according to the Independent Booksellers Association. “I think you can open a book and just be they can take you anywhere,” said Reiss. As protests continued on Friday in response to the death of George Floyd, protesters in Louisville, Kentucky, also had Breonna Taylor on their mind. For the second straight night, violent confrontations ensued between police and protesters in Louisville. Shortly before 10 p.m., a reporter and photojournalist for Louisville-based station WAVE-TV appeared to be intentionally targeted by police with rubber bullets during the protest. It is unclear based on several viral videos of the incident why police fired on the reporters there. The Radio Television Digital News Association released a statement following Friday's incident in Louisville. "Journalists’ job is to show the world what’s happening in our communities," the statement read. "Local reporter Kaitlin Rust keeps reporting even while being targeted by police, and viewers at home stare down the barrel of a police weapon."The incident took place hours after several CNN reporters were arrested in Minneapolis, in an incident the state’s governor called a mistake. Gov. Tim Walz has since apologized to the journalists for the incident. On Thursday, seven protesters were wounded by gunfire amid demonstrations. Taylor, a 26-year-old EMT, was shot and killed by police when they entered her apartment to serve a "no-knock warrant" on March 13.Taylor, who was employed as an EMT, was inside of her home when police conducted a “no-knock raid” on her home. California's Joshua Tree National Park on Wednesday will become the latest casualty of the federal government's partial shutdown, closing campgrounds due to health and safety concerns over near-capacity pit toilets.With a quarter of the federal government employee workforce beginning 2019 out of work or working without a paycheck, agencies from the National Park Service to the Environmental Protection Agency and the Smithsonian museums are feeling the pinch.Unlike some previous government shutdowns, when national parks closed entirely, gates have remained opened under the Trump administration, leaving parks severely understaffed.Joshua Tree, more than 792,000 acres of national park nestled between Palm Springs to the south and the town of Joshua Tree to the north, will remain open during the shutdown but its popular campgrounds will close at noon Wednesday, according to the National Park Service."The park is being forced to take this action for health and safety concerns as vault toilets reach capacity," the park service said."In addition to human waste in public areas, driving off-road and other infractions that damage the resource are becoming a problem."The National Park Service also said the shutdown prevented it from making staff available to "provide guidance, assistance, maintenance, or emergency response.""Any entry onto NPS property during this period of federal government shutdown is at the visitor's sole risk," the park service said this week.Trash collection has stopped along with road and walkway maintenance.Rattlesnake Canyon will close to reduce the number of search and rescue events for rangers already spread thin because of the shutdown, the park service said.The shutdown has also left a stinking mess at Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in eastern California.Yosemite, the nation's third most-visited national park, remains open but various campgrounds as well as snow play areas are "closed due to human waste issues and lack of staffing," according to its website.On the Yosemite Twitter account on Sunday, officials said a "lack of the restrooms and resulting impacts from human waste" forced the closure of the campgrounds. "People entering closed areas are being cited," the tweet said.The visitor center and museum at Yosemite are closed and emergency response times may increase during the shutdown.Kristen Brengel, vice president of government affairs for the National Parks Conservation Association, said the shutdown not only hurts the parks but also surrounding communities that rely on an estimated million a day from tourism."It's really a big deal for Joshua Tree," she said of the campground closings.
