HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. — One family in Indianapolis got a present a little early this holiday season.U.S. Navy Lt. Tawnee Hinton has been in Djibouti, Africa with the Combined Joint Task Force working on counterterrorism operations for the last 14 months.While she was deployed, her four children, Amelia, 5; Leyton, 9; Avarie, 13, and Christian, 21, were only able to talk their mother over FaceTime or texting.“Though the Navy has taken me away from my family on several occasions, and my husband was deployed numerous times before his retirement, this was a particularly lengthy deployment,” Hinton said.One event Hinton didn’t miss this year was her daughter Avarie’s choir concert. HAWAII (KGTV) -- The United States Geological Survey is reporting that an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 struck Hawaii Thursday afternoon.According to the USGS, the quake happened about 1:30 p.m., 11 miles south of Fern Acres on the Big Island.The earthquake was just one of hundreds of earthquakes that have swarmed the island, prompting concerns that Kilauea Volcano could erupt.The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory indicated that a volcanic eruption was possible but not imminent. Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes.The series of earthquakes came after a collapse of a crater floor of Pu?u ?ō?ō, which is a volcanic cone in the eastern rift zone of the Kīlauea Volcano.Since that collapse, about 250 earthquakes were reported in the area into Tuesday evening, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory status report.Check out the map below to see the area near where the earthquake hit: 931

Health officials in Maryland have reported two more cases of severe bleeding problems in people who used synthetic marijuana.That brings the state's total to three patients so far.It's known as K2 or spice and can be sold as liquids for use in E-cigarettes.It has caused bleeding in more than 100 others in at least four other states. GREENCASTLE, Indiana — Protesters at DePauw University in Indiana interrupted a press conference meant to discuss recent racist writings on and near campus, one day after students demonstrated at an on-campus event led by actress Jenna Fischer. After five incidents of racial slurs were written across campus in the last two weeks, protesters interrupted actress Jenna Fischer's talk Tuesday night. On Wednesday, university officials held a press conference to discuss the incidents and Tuesday's protest. About 10 minutes into the press conference Wednesday, DePauw President Mark McCoy learned about protesters outside the doors, wanting inside. McCoy and the other officials allowed the protesters inside, where they chanted, "Meet our demands. We are not safe." For about 20 more minutes, McCoy and the group discussed the incidents, and what the university is doing to stop future incidents from happening. "We are all together addressing every issue that has happened on this campus," McCoy said. "We are committed to addressing these issues.
