BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country's top economic planner, refuted on Monday recent reports online saying China is mulling adjustments of electricity prices, claiming such reports "untrue" .The NDRC said in a statement on its website that recently there were reports online saying the NDRC was studying plans to adjust electricity prices, citing Li Jing, deputy head of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection at NDRC. Reports said she has not given the timetable for the plan.The statement further said she never made such remarks to media and the reports were groundless.The NDRC began a rise in the price of electricity for non-residential use by 2.8 fen (0.4 cents) per kwh on average nationwide on November 20 last year, with residential electricity prices unchanged.

KINSHASA, July 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo arrived in Kinshasa on Friday night to begin a three-day visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).The visit by the Chinese official is set to strengthen cooperative relations between the two friendly countries, officials said.Dai is scheduled to meet with Congolese President Joseph Kabila and Prime Minister Adolphe Muzito on Saturday.During his stay in DR Congo, Dai will visit the June 30 boulevard, the People's Palace and Kinshasa's Fiftieth Independence Hospital, which were all constructed by Chinese firms.Dai, who is heading a Chinese delegation on a five-nation African tour, had previously visited Ethiopia, Algeria and Equatorial Guinea. BEIJING, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Thursday urged members and officials of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to emulate the achievements of an official who died on duty after six years of dedicated work as a village Party secretary.Xi made the statement in Beijing while meeting with attendants to a ceremony to mark the release of a movie about the Party secretary's life in the village, and that of a book based on his diaries.The official, Shen Hao, had been a provincial government official in Anhui in central China, but was later assigned as a village Party secretary in 2004.Shen's devotion to his job brought about significant changes in the village and twice his term was extended at the request of the people in the village, though the work eventually cost him his life. He fell ill through constant overwork and died on November 6, 2009.Xi hailed Shen as a role model for CPC members and officials and urged them to maintain close ties with the people.
