JEFFERSON COUNTY, Miss. – Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of an off-duty officer state trooper.Mississippi Highway Patrol says 58-year-old Troy Morris was found fatally shot in a vehicle on US 61 in Jefferson County early Friday morning. There were reportedly no signs of theft from the vehicle.Morris was a 27-year veteran and a lieutenant with MHP.Along with being trooper, Morris also worked as a highway contract driver with Blackwell Hauling Inc, which has a contract with the U.S. Postal Service to transport mail between USPS facilities. Officials say he was found in the commercial truck that he used to transport mail.“This is a sad day for law enforcement, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and the State of Mississippi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Lieutenant Troy Morris. Local, state, and federal agents will work tirelessly to ensure justice,” said Commissioner Sean Tindell.Saturday, MHP announced that Treyon Washington, 24, was taken into custody in Jefferson County and has been charged with Morris’ murder. He’s being held in the Jefferson County Detention Facility with no bond.Meanwhile, Cdarrius Norman, 17, and Damion Whittley, 25, were arrested in New Orleans. Tony Evers asked President Donald Trump to reconsider his planned visit to Kenosha on Tuesday."I am concerned your presence will only hinder our healing," Evers wrote in the letter on Sunday. "...an in-person visit from you will require a massive re-direction of these resources to support your visit at a time when it is critical that we continue to remain focused on keeping the people of Kenosha safe and supporting the community's response."In response, the White House said that Trump's visit would continue as scheduled."The White House has been humbled by the outreach of individuals from Kenosha who have welcomed the President's visit and are longing for leadership to support local law enforcement and businesses that have been vandalized," White House spokesperson Judd Deere wrote in a statement. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A boater who had been missing since Friday was rescued about 86 miles off the coast of Florida on Sunday.The U.S. Coast Guard says 62-year-old Stuart Bee was found alive on the bow of his 32-foot Sea Ray, which had capsized.Bee departed Cape Marina in Port Canaveral on Friday and didn’t return, according to the Coast Guard.Watchstanders in Jacksonville learned of the disappearance Saturday morning and were told Bee wouldn’t typically stay out on his boat overnight.An aircrew was dispatched the area and other boaters were advised to be on the lookout for Bee’s vessel.Luckily, the Coast Guard says Bee was spotted clinging to his boat at about 11 a.m. Sunday and was then transported to shore."Saving lives at sea is our highest calling.
