TAMPA, Fla. -- The fight against COVID-19 is taking off in a new direction: it’s headed for the friendly skies.“We wanted to be able to instill confidence in the traveling public that, in fact, it is safe to travel,” said John Tiliacos, vice president of airport operations and customer service at Tampa International Airport.Tucked away in a corner of the main terminal at the airport sits a coronavirus testing center. This month, Tampa’s airport became the first in the country to offer two types of COVID-19 tests to the flying public. The tests are administered by medical personnel from BayCare Health System.“There's a lot of people who are asymptomatic carriers and we don't want to invariably go and expose a loved one or a family member,” said Dr. Nishant Anand, Chief Medical Officer for BayCare Health System.While the tests are required for people traveling to certain international destinations, it can also benefit people traveling within the U.S., by helping them avoid a 14-day quarantine in certain states, if they test negative for the virus.“Me and three other girlfriends are going on the girl's trip,” said Aneesah Rashad, who is celebrating her birthday with a vacation.Rashad is heading to Puerto Rico and needed a COVID test to do so.“It's required in order for you to go to enter into San Juan within 72 hours prior to your travel day,” Rashad said. “I've been tested several times, just to make sure, because I do care about my health and it's important to me.”The two tests offered include the , rapid coronavirus antigen test, which offers test results in 15 minutes. There is also the more accurate, 5 PCR test – which uses a nasal swab – with results within two days. Both tests are covered by most insurance.“Heaven forbid, if someone does test positive, we tell them to go home and quarantine,” Dr. Anand said. “We tell them what the results are. We then are obligated by law to notify the Department of Health for Hillsborough County, which is a county that we're in.”Even some airlines, like United, American, Jetblue and Hawaiian, are now offering COVID testing before certain flights.Earlier this year, passenger numbers cratered at airports across the country, down more than 90% in Tampa alone.“[It’s] the worst impact that we've seen to travel,” Tiliacos said.However, the number of people flying is starting to tick back up heading into the holiday season. The coronavirus testing center is open at a time when it could become vital.“We hope that other airports replicate this,” Tiliacos said.Since Tampa International Airport opened their testing site, several others have followed suit, including in Oakland, Boston and New York. 2686

He also cannot compete against the company for two years.The separation agreement also notes that Wynn must leave his residence at Wynn Las Vegas by June 1 and pay fair market rent until that date. Wynn can terminate the lease before that date. Wnny wll also cease to have administrative support after May 31 and health insurance through the company after Dec. 31, according to the document. Wynn's employment with Wynn Resorts began on Oct. 4, 2002 and ended on Feb. 6, 2018. He resigned following allegations of sexual misconduct. The document also acknowledges that Wynn agrees to cooperate with Wynn Resorts Board of Directors investigation into his time at the company. TAMPA, Fla. — A volunteer at Carole Baskin's Big Cat Rescue in Tampa was bitten by a tiger Thursday morning and sustained "an extreme injury to her arm."According to the organization, Candy Couser — who has volunteered with the animal sanctuary for five years — was injured while feeding a 3-year-old Tiger named Kimba on Thursday.According to a press release, Baskin said that Kimba nearly tore Couser's arm "off her shoulder" as she tried to feed him. The volunteers, according to the release, helped Couser stem the bleeding until an ambulance arrived and took her to St. Joseph's Hospital.Couser is expected to survive the attack.In the release, Baskin said that Couser had reached into a cage to open a door that had been clipped shut and that she should have contacted a supervisor when she realized the door was clipped. She also said Couser had violated protocols by putting her arm inside a cage with a tiger."Candy was still conscious and insisted that she did not want Kimba Tiger to come to any harm for this mistake," Baskin said in her press release. "(Kimba) is being placed in quarantine for the next 30 days as a precaution, but was just acting normal due to the presence of food and the opportunity."Baskin and Big Cat Rescue were featured prominently in the massively popular Netflix docuseries "Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness.""Tiger King" spent much of its time focusing on the feud between Baskin and fellow big cat park owner Joe Exotic, which included accusations by him that Baskin was behind the disappearance of her ex-husband, Don Lewis. Baskin has denied those allegations and has not been charged with a crime in connection with Lewis' death.In January 2019, Joe Exotic was sentenced to 22 years in prison in connection with a murder-for-hire plot in an attempt to have Baskin killed. He was also convicted of several violations of the Endangered Species Act.Baskin was upset with how the show portrayed the captive tiger trade.Big Cat Rescue is closed to the public due to the coronavirus outbreak.
