(KGTV) - The San Diego-based company behind a popular bracelet is in hot water after customers say their advertising falsely led them to believe purchases benefited Costa Rican artists.Pura Vida Bracelets, founded in San Diego by Griffin Thall and Paul Goodman, started out selling bracelets advertised as being made in Costa Rica and benefiting local artisans. Since then, the bracelets have been featured by celebrities and become a popular accessory.This week, the company sent emails to customers apologizing for any confusion over their products. (KGTV) — Is Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Gavin Newsom avoiding the debate stage? That's the accusation from Republican rival John Cox who says Newsom has agreed to only one debate thus far, despite several opportunities being offered.Newsom tells 10News he has already been part of four debates with Cox but critics point out that was during the primary campaign with other candidates sharing the stage.Newsom tells 10News he prefers meeting with people at town halls where there's more time for interaction with the audience and less grandstanding.RELATED: Gavin Newsom, John Cox to face off in November General Election"Candidly, the last three out of four of our debates, looked like Jerry Springer shows than substantive dialogue," said Newsom. But political analyst Kevin Riggs says its no surprise Newsom is shying away from debates at this point in the race."He's ahead in the polls, he's ahead in the fundraising, at this point his campaign is an exercise in risk management," said Riggs. (KGTV) - The group leading the campaign to transform the San Diego County Credit Union Stadium site into a west campus for San Diego State University has major concerns over the question that will be posed to voters on the November ballot. Friends of SDSU is dismayed to the point that the issue could wind up in court. "Our position is we've correctly portrayed the initiative measure in our corrected version. If that isn't acceptable for whatever reason, we'll have to determine whatever remedies are available," Attorney Ken Lounsbery, speaking on behalf of the campaign, said to the City Council on Monday. RELATED: San Diego State's Mission Valley stadium plan includes NFL possibilitySDSU West is competing with SoccerCity, a private development, over the future of the 166-acre site. Both are promising a smaller stadium with a river park. The City Attorney's office, which is suing to get both thrown off the ballot, developed the language for both initiatives to go before voters. The SDSU West question, of 75 words, doesn't say the university would buy the land for fair market value.
